Baby’s Breath

Fashionable Stamping Challenge ~ “Make It For A Child”
This fortnight we want to see some projects made with children in mind…from baby cards, to birthday cards to gifts maybe…your imagination is your playground here.
My inspiration this fortnight comes from 2 friends of mine…one 6 months pregnant and the other 7 months pregnant.
Seeing as how they can only have either a boy or a girl…then I figure one of them is sure to have a boy???
Well, that’s my theory anyway :)))
I’ve used one of my favourite bling things to make…”a junk bow” that I learnt from Margie Romney-Aslett and added a rose and leaves into it this time…
and incorporated splashing paint (and all over my table too, more practice needed!!!) from Donna Downey.
Both of these things are just sooo much fun to do.

The background started out with a “cover-a-card” cloud stamp from Impression-Obsession.  Which I then added some gesso to around the edges, and coloured some of it with blue acrylic paint to make the edges more shabby. Using some of these shades I splashed paint and stencilled using bubble-wrap…and splashed some more paint (only because I was having such a good time).
The main image is sleeping baby ~ I Brake For Stamps
and angel wings ~ Stampers Anonymous
just masked and cut out and embossed with nestibilities using a cuttlebug…and inked…and glittered.
And I have used the “out of the box” technique.
And the hearts are made by sticking some jac paper to some white cardstock, punching out in a heart shape, peeling off the top layer and adding blue glitter.
And that’s about it ~ remember to pop on over to Fashionable Stamping Challenges and prepare to be amazed at some of the wonderful ideas the stampettes have come up with this fortnight…
Amazing!!!! And have a go at winning a voucher from Marina at Cottage Crafts.
I am entering this beautiful baby card in the following challenges  ~

February Canvas with Donna Downey
I just wanted to share this months canvas art with you.
I really enjoyed this months challenge.  Donna is sooo very good at walking you through the class.
This month I felt like everything was new…so different to card making and working with inks and stamps.

Monochrome + One Other Colour

“Urban Mystique”
This fortnight at FSC we are asking you to create something in monochrome + one colour!
This year I have enrolled in an on-line art course called “Canvas Create” with Donna Downey.  I have created this card using the techniques that we learnt in our January class.
OK, I didn’t quite follow ALL the guidelines…greys (instead of bright colours), stamped crow (replacing bright flower), Pan Pastels (instead of acrylic paint) and cardstock (instead of canvas)…but I think I have incorporated the “techniques” that we were taught just the same!  Just in my own way.
And I have learnt heaps!!!
And had fun!

Some of the fun things that I did on this piece are….throwing paint onto my almost finished background (scary!)…and playing some more with the Pan Pastels…check out the moon ~ the tower is masked and the moon is topped up with some white PP, and then I used an eraser to remove some of the PP where the craters are…this made the moon shine brighter.  Then I just added some stars around the moon with a white gel pen.
In the beginning, I worked up a larger sheet of white cardstock with the PP in blocks of colour and then used some for the background, some for the main image and some for the journaling.
To get the barbed wire effect in the background I inked the edge of the rubber stamp that I used for my main image and randomly “stamped” it around.  I found this gave me a straighter line than using the edge of the ink pad (no curved end bits)…and then I just drew on some doodles with a black liner pen.
And the crow is stamped again, cut out and layered with some magic mount.
Please check out the other inspiring pieces from the design team at Fashionable Stamping Challenges. They are a very talented group with a wide range of styles to share.
And Marina from Cottage Crafts has an on-line voucher for one lucky person to spend on anything of their choice!!!

Words of Wisdom

Words. Words. Words.
So I have decided to come out and play with a new stamp, and some new techniques, for the
Gingersnaps Creations Challenge “Words of Wisdom”

And my interpretation is from the book of words itself…
a dictionary!

I have torn some pages up from an old dictionary ~ and I pasted, inked, splattered and stamped over them.
And this has become my background.
The stamp I used as my focal image is from Stampers Anonymous.
And the technique that I have used to show this one off was shown to me by Shirl at
Shirls Cards
Called Out of the Box Technique.
