Spring is in the Air

Spring is in the Air at Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight.
It was a tad difficult to get my head around this one as we are now in Autumn here and all the flowers my are drooping and leaves are falling….heaps!

Springtime…blue skies, butterflies and flowers all pop into my head and are my inspiration for this challenge.
The background is a mixture of DI, ivy stamped onto tissue paper and glued on, stenciling with white acrylic ~ are all techniques used for the background
So just a muck-around piece really…and I just kept going until I was happy with the shades (I really wanted the blue to be almost white in the middle).
The butterflies and blooms are fussy cut…
-and the blooms inked with DI, raised on mounting foam and glossy accents and beads were added to finish them off.
Oh, and the leaves are hand made, punched and DI’d and scrunched etc…
My goal was “freshness” and “new life” so I hope that I have achieved that.
I seem to be really getting into the experimenting side of stamping and having so much fun with the inks this year.  A new phase for me I think, and soooo much more fun! In a very different kind of way.

Welcome to the new members this fortnight, it is fantastic to have you aboard.

Just a reminder that FSC have had to start their followers list all over again, so if you get a chance you will need to sign up again…it was a blogger thing!
Pop on by anyway and check out the awesomeness of the Design Team!
They are truly amazing.  They have created some very refreshing designs.

Dancing Dragonflies

I’ve been having a play with alcohol…inks again!
This time though I have been experimenting with simple keeping things a little more simple.
The white cardstock underneath has some basic inking around the edges with some fern leaves randomly stamped around the edge.
Then on acetate I have dragonflies (on one side), stamped with Stayzon Ink,
and then alcohol inks on the other side…I used the solution to wipe away the colour from the dragonflies so that they stood out a little more.

“Frog Fantasy”

We are all playing BINGO this fortnight at Fashionable Stamping Challenges

The Fashionettes have outdone themselves this time…there are some awesome creations!

I have chosen the diagonal…flowers/distress/words and had an absolute ball making this card!
In a way, it is an anything goes challenge, just make sure that you have the elements on the bingo chart to be in with a chance to win a voucher from Marina at Cottage Crafts

Please remember that FSC is a stamping challenge site, so your main image has to be a stamped image!

For this card I have had my first play with my new Dylusionals…I have wanted some of these stamps for ages
(inspired by Silvia from FSC)
I haven’t got the new inks yet…but they are definitely on my wish list, so I have used my distress inks to the MAX in trying to get some vibrancy into the card. Yes…throwing some more acrylic paint (only because it is sooo much fun to do), tearing, layering and overstamping in order to get as much depth as I can.
I have also put some magic mount (foam mounting) under the tip of each leaf so that it has the effect of curling the leaves out.
I probably shouldn’t say, but the leaves are from some left over inked cardstock…I read somewhere that we shouldn’t be throwing away bits that you think are no good because you just never know when you might use them…I just added some more ink, stamped and then cut the leaves out.  I love the leaves on this card.

I would also like to thank all the new followers of my blog, thank you so much for your support.

Other exciting news in my blogland adventure is that I have just set up my own Etsy Shop.
The idea is that each time that I create a new project for FSC it will be added in to my shop.

Baby steps I know, but it is all very exciting!
