Happy 1st Birthday FSC!!!

Happy 1st Birthday FSC!

We started all that time ago with an Anything Goes challenge,
So, to celebrate, that is the challenge for this time around!
OMG...it sure has been an amazing experience, my first DT position ever, and I haven't been kicked out!
A big thankyou to each of my DT sisters for teaching me sooo much and being so generous with your knowledge and help when I've needed it  XXX
You are an amazing bunch of ladies!

A couple of challenges ago Shirley, our industrious leader at FSC, made an ATC box,
and presented a video tutorial on it.
I have taken up the challenge of creating one this fortnight.
Let me remind you, I am a card maker...
so this was one incredible challenge for me!!!

This is the finished product!
And yes, I am VERY pleased with myself! (pat on back)
Shirley's instructions were clear and the pause button on the tutorial was very handy.
I will only briefly describe what I did otherwise you will need a sleeping bag for a sleepover to get through it all.
I highly recommend that you give it a go and,
if you let us know about it, it could go on the FSC blog.

The front.
I started with white cs and coloured it in Old Paper DI and flicked it.
Then layered cs and papers, tearing, embossing, flicking paint, inking, stenciling and stamping as I went.

The inside I coloured in brown tones and the outside was in browns, blues and greens.

The sides.
I stamped, coloured and cut out bits to add on for decoration.
The vintage lady stamp is a freebie from Crafty Individuals, always given when you order stuff.

This is the back, which is in line with the front.  Icaras, from Lost Coast Design, is a new stamp and the OI steampunk stamp is a favourite.  I think they go really well together.

The top.
And finally flowers and rhinestones to add a little glamour.
And a little feminine touch!

It felt good when I had finished and I am so glad that I challenged myself
and stepped outside of the usual.
Thanks Shirley for a tutorial that even I could follow!
Now all I need to do is make some ATC's...ummmm

Please stop by FSC and check out the awesomeness of the fashionettes and be inspired.
Join in the fun of our "Anything Goes" challenge

Summer Breeze

 "Summer Breeze"

I have a little group of ladies that I teach stamping to each week
and they are called "The Stamping Diva's"
The card that we are making this week concentrates on masking.
It has such a floating feel to it and conjures up images of carefree summer days.

The main image is die cut into a piece of copy paper,
and this became the mask.
The inks are Victorian Velvet and a thin edge of Aged Mahogany.
While the mask is still in place I stamped a flourish in V V,
then took the mask off and stamped the same image with A M.
Then I punched some small butterflies and used this as a mask to mask over the main area, some on the masking area and some off that area as well.

The butterflies themselves are just stamped on white cs and inked up with the same inks, cut out and attached so that the wings fold out.

It is a simple, but effective card and very pretty in pink.
I think it can be used for just about any occasion.

Geisha Gal

"Geisha Gal"

Oriental is the theme at Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight!

While sitting and wondering what on earth I was going to do, a girlfriend rang and asked me if I could make a Japanese card for her to give to a friend.
Go figure!!!
So, there was no getting out of it....

When I gave it some thought about what makes a card oriental,
I kept coming up with red, gold and panels.
And I know that sounds simplistic, but at least it was a starting point.

The fans are stamped onto some glossy card that has been worked with AI's.
Then UTEE'd, with some flecks of gilding flakes added between layers.
The panels are worked up with barn door and wild honey DI's, water splattered, sprayed with forever red glimmer mist and then stamped on.
The geisha girl panel was stamped first, masked, and then the colour added afterwards!
She was carefully coloured with copics.
(scary moment!)

A little bit of kindy glitz here and there, a tussle or two added, and the card is done!

Please, pop on over to FSC and checkout the awesomeness of the fashionettes...
So many different ideas on what is oriental! All sure to inspire you to join in the fun.
