An Altered Book

The book, “A Town Like Alice”
will never be the same again….
Terry was inspired by a mixed media piece that she created after watching
Drew’s video on altering a journal…
and so after watching it myself, I decided to have a go.
I just grabbed a really old book off the bookshelf
“A Town Like Alice”
(a top novel by the way)
knowing that I would never read it again…
and turned it into a centrepiece for my bookshelf.
The beauty of this is that I got to use up some old stock that I know I will probably never use!
Had some inky fun with Dylusional sprays!
Took myself out of my comfort zone…and it was awesome fun!!!
Like Terry, this was my first go at this, and it definitely wont be my last.
Thankyou Terry!

Spring Flowers

“Spring Flowers”

I have a brief this year to make a birthday card

for each child in a year 10 class at work…
about 20, 16 yr olds!
I thought I would blog them as I go
as ideas for this age can be really difficult sometimes.
They are so grown up (but not) at this age…
I have a 16 and an 18yr old boy at home and it is such an in between age for them.
This card is one layer, except for the butterfly.
The techniques used are masking and reverse masking…
and of course, lots of ink!
I really like this style of ripping and masking at the moment.
These are made with some new stamps from Darkroom Door that arrived yesterday
and I just had to have a play!
I am entering this in the following challenges ~

“In Nana’s Garden”

Is the theme this fortnight at  FSC

We’ve got a big announcement – the challenge blog now has a new website address! You can now find us at:

So join in the fun, bookmark the page and come and play!
This time I wanted to create a secret garden…
where you are looking from the outside in.
I remember when I was young (yes, I was young once!)
and would love the feeling of secretly hiding away
in amongst nana’s flowers…unseen by anyone.
Her garden seemed so huge and there were many spots to hide in.
So, with this in mind, my focal image is set back amongst
the ivy and behind the flowers.

I have used Graphic 45 papers from Ladies Diary
to create the corners with some extra cut out for added florals.
The girl is masked and the ivy is stamped around her.
The background is created with DI, dry embossed,
and coloured up so that the swirls stand out.
I added some orange as an afterthought to contrast with the pink and burgundy.
For more swirling and movement I decided to added a feather.
(I had a left over duck feather…lol)
My nana had chooks, so the duck feather kind of fits lol…
The stamps used are from Crafty Individuals
 and Penny Black.
Leo at Flonzcraft is offering a very generous $20 voucher
to spend in his store for the winner,
and runners up and spotlights are up for grabs to!
The Fashionettes have some gorgeous inspiration for you so please pop on over to
FSC and check them all out and leave a little love…
These girls are amazing each and every time they create something!
Please be inspired and join in the fun…

Spring Love

Spring is in the Air
Spring is so many things…
It is a brightness after the bleak of winter, the melting of snow and an abundance of everything.
It is a time for courting, of love, new beginnings, new growth, new born,
a bursting forth of flowery gardens and butterflies,
a time of colour and a time to be happy.

The first sound I hear each morning in Spring
is the chirping of birds…very loud chirping…lol
So for my card I have chosen Spring love using birds
in a natural forestry setting.
And the colour pink to add to the romance and
lightness of the season.

The stamps that I have used from Flonzcraft are
The ink is DI of course, Victorian Velvet and Aged Mahogany,
and the birds coloured in with Aqua crayons with a little sparkle.
And a Martha Stewart punch and some flowers from my stash
for some added pizzazz!
Flonz has a generous $20 prize for one lucky entrant
which can be spent on a huge range of goodies from his on-line store.
And they are cheap…so you can get heaps of them!
The Design Team have once again come up with some
outstanding examples of how to showcase these stamps…
so please be inspired
and come join in our fun at Vintage Stamping Challenges
