"Fallen Angel"

It's all about Autumn Colours

Autumn is my favourite time of the year.
The intense heat has gone, the days are sunny and calm
and the nights are a little cooler.
The grass stops growing, the weeds slow down and
the nights draw in.
Everything seems at peace...

The colours of Autumn can be intense, bright, and in stark
contrast to the slowing down of the season.

This card has the intensity of the Autumn for the background
and the softness of the sepia in the front
to give the contrast and contradiction of the season.

I really wanted to show you the background for this piece...
one, because you can't see it when the toppers go on...
and two, because I made a mistake - can you see it?

I accidentally used the embossing folder the wrong side up on one side...
so the left-hand side is backwards, and on the right-hand side it is the right-side up.
I loooove how it turned out though
and I will definitely be making this mistake again.
When it is lightly sanded, the two halves blend into each other very subtly I think.

This is just a close up of the leaves
which have been stamped with Archival Potting Soil,
then spritzed with copper glimmer mist
and then with heirloom gold.

The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different versions on this theme.
Please pop on over and check out the awesomeness of the fashionettes,
be inspired and maybe join in the fun.
Flonzcraft are our sponsors and have a generous $20 gift voucher up for grabs,
there are spotlights and a top 3 as well.

Enjoy!

I would like to enter this into the following challenge ~

"Modern Milly"

Can U Resist

Woohoo, another challenge is up and running at FSC!!!
And it is all about resist this fortnight.

You can use any resist technique that you like...as long as you state what it is,
and of course use a stamp, then you can join in the fun.

There have been some truly amazing cards being made lately
using stencils...so I wanted to get some new ones and have a little fun!
After going into both of the scrapbooking shops in town and asking about stencils...
I was greeted with blank looks and the owners weren't really interested in finding out more
about the products...not one question! Hard to believe isn't it!
And one of those shops is closing in a few weeks...ummm

So on-line it had to be ~ and I was thrilled when they arrived this week.

I have kept this simple.
The girl mask was used first...I stamped some writing in Versamark and then clear embossed.
Black soot was then applied so that the writing would pop.
Which it did after wiping away any excess ink.
I then used the reverse mask to cover the inked area,
added the mask for the background words
and inked again.
I've dribbled some black paint and
splattered some red and black paint.
And to finish off I've added more text in black archival
and randomly scribbled around one side of the mask
because I wasn't game to go all the way around lol.

"In the Garden"

In The Garden

In my part of the world Spring is definitely in the air!
To this little butterfly (me)
that means 2 things ~ weeds and mowing!
So I stepped back for a moment when I made this card
and reflected on the quiet time in the garden.
This image from Flonzcraft was perfect for what I had in mind
and can be found here.

I love the techniques on the background on this card.
I have added some inked up paper to some corrugated card
and then stripped some away...and then I also sanded some back.
I love the texture it has created and it is definitely on my "do again" list!

The heart is die cut and then swished through some ink on a craft mat.
The image is only lightly coloured so that it stands out more against the grunge background.

I hope you take the time to pop over to Vintage Stamping Challenges
and check out the amazing talent and ideas from the team.
Flonzcraft is offering a generous $20 gift voucher to the winner,
