Hearts & Flowers

This fortnight at FSC we have "Hearts and Flowers"
as our theme.
Just in time for Valentine's Day!
But seeing as I am single, with no one to send a card too,
I thought I would make a card for mum for Mother's Day? A bit sad isn't it! lol
I don't mind being single, I like my independence, but sometimes it just sucks.
So...if you know any single, good looking guys who know how to treat a lady just right
~ just send them here...down the bottom of Australia!

I had so much fun making this card...
perhaps I could make some words later on and add them in a journaling  style.
There are soooo many occasions that hearts and flowers
could be used for so create to your hearts content...and please join in on our fun.

This is a stamp from Chocolate Baroque which I have been waiting to use
at just the right time...I saw it ages ago and just loved it!
~ and it seemed perfect for this challenge.

The style of this card is as a one-layer card...my favourite!
The heart was stamped first, then masked off before doing the background.
The background is done in the ombre technique using
Tattered Rose, Victorian Velvet and Aged Mahogany DI's.
I really wanted to leave some white space on my card this time
and I thought the heart was the perfect stamp for this.

The rose is masked and coloured with distress inks.
Everything is masked off again so that I could do the wrinkle free technique
and add some crackle stamping onto the background.
For the words within the heart I needed to create a negative mask of the heart
and add some small print.
Oh...and a little freehand squiggling around the edges to add a border.

It is hard to believe that 3 years ago I started blogging!
There have been so many twists and turns and opportunities
- beyond anything that I could ever have imagined!
And still there is so much to learn lol...
A HUGE thankyou to all my blogging buddies and  those that give
so willingly in everyway...

The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different versions on the theme this time.
Please pop on over and check out the awesomeness of the fashionettes,
be inspired and maybe join in the fun.
Flonzcraft are our sponsors this fortnight and have a generous $20 gift voucher up for grabs,
there are spotlights and a top 3 as well.

What a gorgeous stamp and you are showing it off so beautifully! Love the white outlining of the roses and the pop of subtle yellow flowers in the heart is fabulous! I was a single mom of 2 for 7 years before I met Steve and we are going to hit 31 years! It will happen and all good things are worth the wait! Hugs! Oh and your mom will love this and of course she is your first true love!

Your one layer cards are always so gorgeous Dot. Another stunner to sit and gaze at. Love the pink but the yellow in the middle just makes it pop off the page plus the stamping is second to none as usual. What a wowser.

So delicately pretty, Dot - I love the flowers in the centre framed by that texty heart.

Congratulations on your 3rd blogaversary - fantastic... and just remember - as I do quite often - how much a man would get in the way of all the crafting!!
