is the new challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenges
this fortnight.

Sometimes when we think of silhouettes we think largish stamps with completely filled in solid shapes.
When I thought about this
(and realised that I didn't have all that many of this style of stamp)
I thought that it can be any stamp with solid bits...not necessarily large long as you don't have to colour anything in.

If you use your imagination you could think of
word stamps as a kind of silhouette...(well...maybe?)
and I used one of my favourites as my center piece.
The border around these words are made with a steel ruler
which had been run through an ink pad.
Another clean shape!
The feather was a fairly solid shape so I used this along with the flower and a bird
which all had solid lines (with nothing to colour in!)

In fact, the beauty of using solid lines and shapes means
that you don't need to worry about colouring at all...pretty cool hey!

For the background I used alcoholic inks and swiped specialty paper through it to give a great splash of colour against
 the blackness of the silhouettes.

I discovered this time that when you use white pen on specialty paper (and alcohol ink) it actually stays there...sometimes I have had to go back a re-do white dots when it is on other mediums - this was just a nice surprise that I wasn't expecting.

The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different versions on this theme.
Please pop on over and check out the awesomeness of the fashionettes,
be inspired and maybe join in the fun.

there are spotlights and a top 3 as well.

Love your take on the theme Dot, and your card is just beautiful! The black against that beautiful background looks wonderful! Love the little pops of the white pen too! I would be interested to know what kind of white pen you used....

The coloured background is so cool Dot and very different from your usual. Such a contrast for the black feathers and the little white dotted doodles.

Gorgeous, and you're right about the sihouettes, they don't have to be big, as long as it is a silhouette, logic, hu?
