Anything Goes at FSC

Anything Goes
is the theme this month at FSC.

We are all a little busy at this time of year with so much to do leading up to Christmas.
So this is a nice easy challenge to finish the year off with.

It is Summer here now in my part of the world so I thought I would share this nautical piece.

This is a card that I made for Australian Simply Cards magazine.
I love this guy, he reminds me of my father, though he looks nothing like him.  He used to work at the harbour here in Portland.
The stamp is from Stampers Anonymous.

Techniques used in this are masking, water colouring and acrylic block stamping.

The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different versions on the same theme.

Please pop on over and check out the awesomeness of their creativity,
be inspired, and maybe join in our fun.
Flonzcraft are our sponsors this fortnight and have a generous $20 gift voucher up for grabs,

there are spotlights and a top 3 picked by the DT as well.

Stamping must be the focal point on your project!

Having fun with the new dragonflies from Visible Image!
As there are now small ones in the set, the set is so versatile.

This card uses the acrylic block technique as a background with some dragonflies stamped and embossed with white EP.
The ink used is Color Burst. I love the intense colour that this product has!

The words are also stamped with the same ink.
After seeing/reading somewhere that you can spray your stamp lightly with water and mix colour onto the stamp with your finger, I decided to give it a go with the words. No different to what you do on the acrylic block...just using a stamp instead.
The multi-tones that came out on the words was amazing!!!
And as long as you don't have it too wet, then the words are quite crisp.

This is my final DT make for this year for Visible Image.
I would like to wish everyone a very merry xmas.

Take care!

Beach Huts

Beach Huts
Local artist, Kerri Humby, was offering an art class locally
that was about painting beach huts using acrylic paint on canvas.

Making cards is my thing, using stamps...
painting images, with paint and a paint-brush is way out of my comfort zone!
When using a paint brush you use it like a paint brush
- not a pencil
So hard!!! lol

Kerri has a very quirky style which really appealed to me...
and sooo very patient!
She needed to be.

This subject is close to my heart, with lots of fantastic memories at the main beach in town having a row of beach huts.
They have been gone for many years now, though some are still scattered around the country-side,
painted up in bright colours, looking like new.

This was soooo much fun!

Hello, Hello, Hello

Hello, Hello, Hello

Stamp designer, Susanne Rose, has designed some unique and fun stamps which are available through Rubber Dance.

After purchasing a couple of sets that really caught my eye, it was time to play...

The background is painty and the giraffe is water coloured.
There were some fun background stamps in one of the sets, perfect for a little background interest.

A parcel arrived from Shirley recently which included a gorgeous card made with some Stampotique characters. It was started during one of our Skyping sessions. So my card was inspired by her card which you can see here.

There are plenty of other stamps in the sets made by Susanne...
so more playing coming soon.

A Little Pixie Love

A Little Pixie Love...

This is a quick card made playing with stamps from the Pink Your Life range at Stampendous.

The background is distress ink rolled onto card with a brayer.
The colours used in the background have been picked up and used on the hearts, flowers and main image.

The pixie was placed at the bottom of the circle to give the look of him being grounded to something.

Distress inks have been used in 2 ways - blending and as a water colour.

The Mushroom set of stamps has some interesting stamps on it that can be used in so many different ways. Here it is used to hang the hearts and to add background interest with drops of circles.

Enjoy this little bit of pixie love...

Mr Bones is at it Again
Oh this skull just keeps on so many ways!

This is the third card that I've made with this stamp set.
You can see the other two here and here.  It is so versatile and heaps of fun to play with.
This time he is getting the 'smokey' look.

This card is made in brown monochrome colours, in a CAS style.
The swirly background gives it an almost surreal atmosphere, as if he has been buried for ages.
And teamed up with the splats it's as if he's just been freshly dug up...
Definitely think my imagination has been influenced by too many crime shows on T.V. lol
And wonder what his story is???

Getting My Vintage On!
I'm excited to be a Guest Creative Guide at
A Vintage Journey today!

I've been invited by Nikki to inspire you to use crackle on your creative pieces.
When I went to grab my crackle paste it had all dried I went for my favourite crackle stamp instead.  I love stamping so it was fun just play with stamps.
Here is my creation for you...using a new stamp set from Stampers Anonymous called 'Sideshow', some distress crayons, inks, stencils
and my crackle stamp!

My usual style is one-layer, but for this challenge I've gone with some layers.
The crackle is used to give a vintagey feel.

The main panel is stamped with distress inks.  Every time I looked at the umbrella man holding out the umbrella, I kept thinking that he needed to have something under it...
so I went for man's best friend - a dog!

The dog was stamped with distress inks first, masked, and then the man was stamped.
It really didn't need masking, but did it anyway just to be on the safe side in case he didn't quite fit.

I discovered that when using my new Misti (love this gadget!!!), I could add some black soot to the edges of the image and re-stamp it.
It gives a lovely two-tone effect which I quite like...and will definitely be doing this again!

I have to admit that the background was soooo much fun to make!
It is made with distress crayons, lifting some off using a baby wipe through a rectangle stencil.
I have highlighted some of the rectangles using water colour pencils so that they popped a little more.
A little over-stamping with some words and crackle stamps gives it all a gorgeous vintage effect I think.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by.
I hope you have enjoyed this vintage piece.
Pop on over to A Vintage Journey and check it out.

I am entering this in the Craft Stamper November challenge...

'Tis The Season

'Tis the Season
It's my turn to choose the theme for the challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenges this month...
So, for this challenge you can make anything that is Autumn or Winter...I hope that you have fun with it.
I've gone for a xmas twist.

Please remember to use a stamp as your focal image.

I've had heaps of fun just relaxing and playing with my water colour pencils for this card.
The image is called Snow Queen from Stampendous
which you can find here...isn't she gorgeous?

The icy feel to this stamp made me feel like trying to create a kind of ice cave for her.
The blues are gradually built up, drying between layers.
With lots of drip effects from the water colouring.

Her hair has deliberately been left white, with a little stickles added for extra glam, and to also add to the iciness.

Another Chrissy card done! Feeling good!!!

The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different versions on the same theme.
Please pop on over and check out the awesomeness of their creativity,

Santa Claus Is Coming

Santa Claus is Coming...
yes he is!

Have you been naughty or nice this year?
I've been a very good I'm hoping that I've made it onto the 'nice' list.
Well...maybe I've been just a little bit naughty lol - I'll have to cross my fingers and hope for the best!

When I saw this Santa Claus stamp set I knew that he had to bring me some I made a chimney for him to drop down using one of the extra bits in the Teenage Kicks set and the stars in the night sky are from the Feel The Beat set.

The chimney was heaps of fun to make. I love how the bricks can be turned up-side-down so that they slot together perfectly.

"A Surprise Package"

A Pleasant Surprise Package
arrived all the way from the other side of the world today!

The talented Shirley from Shirl's Cards sent me a parcel
full of crafty goodness...

Among all the treasures were a couple of cards. So I thought I'ld share them with you.

The box sort of went missing in the mail
and to everyone's surprise it ended up back in Ireland!
After patiently re-sending it it has coincidentally arrived here around Halloween time!!!
So this card made me smile when I saw it - big time!

This monster image is Topher, from Stampotique.
Isn't he gorgeous???

This one is a fold-over style.
The hinges and handle make this so elegant!
And the texture on the inside is gorgeous.

I love my package of crafty goodness and I can't wait to play. much to learn!

Thank you Shirley.
I'm feeling VERY spoilt.

There are many however I keep coming back to this one.

Awesome Autumn!

Awesome Autumn
Well it's really Spring in my part of the world and I'm having so much fun with the Autumn theme in the Northern hemisphere, the colours are so lush!!!

When thinking of a different way to use the
and was going through all the different ways that we jump for joy...
and remembered when I was little, up at my nana's place, where I would rake up all the leaves and do a running jump into what seemed like a huge pile of Autumn leaves.
...and came up with this card.

Just bought myself a Misti for stamping...
and found that I used it heaps in this make.
The background leaf (from the Colours of the Wind set) was stamped in one colour of distress inks, then re-stamped with a little bit of another colour, and then again with a tiny bit of black soot around the edges.
Haven't seen this technique anywhere when looking for instructions on how to use the Misti, so I guess it's my own discovery.
(well that's my story anyway lol)
