Feb 14, 2016

is the theme this month at FSC.

For this theme I immediately thought of a sunset in Africa.
The moon is rising, large and white, over the Serengeti with a solitary tree.
And just in case you couldn't pick that it is in Africa, I've added a couple of animals.

The scene itself is done with distress inks.
The giraffe is done with Inktense pencils...they are new to me and I wanted to have a play with them.  I used watercolour paper so that it wouldn't break up with the more water that I added to it.

I only had one monkey stamp, so I partially stamped it onto some acetate with Stayzon ink - then flipped it over and did the same on the other side to get a mirror image.
They were then coloured in using alcohol ink markers.

It was tempting to add more...but I was brave and stopped!

The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different versions on the same theme.
Please pop on over and check out the awesomeness of their creativity,
be inspired, and maybe join in our fun.
Flonzcraft are our sponsors this fortnight and have a generous $20 gift voucher up for grabs,
there are spotlights and a top 3 picked by the DT as well.

Stamping must be the focal point on your project!

This is a fabulous sunset over the Serengeti Dot. I love the deep, rich colours that you've used and the monkeys are a great addition. Good advice too about stamping on acetate to make a reflective image. The giraffe looks magnificent and you've coloured him beautifully with your new pencils. Sandra x

She looks like a Gertrude to me Dot and a more pretty giraffe you couldn't wish to see. Those monkeys look as if they mean business but I am sure she can look after herself. Perfect picture scene.

Warm crafty hugs from Shirl x x x
