Believe In Yourself

Believe In Yourself

Take a stamp, anything goes!
is the theme at The Craft Stamper Take It, Make It challenge blog  this month!

There are some great ideas in the Feb issue of the magazine and
on the Craft Stamper Blog – with an awesome prize to be won
from DaliART!
PLUS:  The Design Team will have a look at all your gorgeous work and choose their top 3…and the overall winner will get published in Craft Stamper magazine!
AND: the Challenge winner will be offered a Guest Designer spot for an upcoming challenge!

This is one challenge that I’ve been entering,
every now and then, for some time (years)…
so it is a massive honour to be chosen by the team last November.

What made it even more special is that it was for my favourite creation this year!
Which you can see here.

Part of winning is being a Guest Designer…
so I have come up with this card.

I have a close circle of friends who are constantly telling me to believe in myself, so, in the end, they were the words I chose for this card.  The card is a kind of message to myself…

When I was putting this card together I mucked it up sooo many times that by the time I had to repeat it – AGAIN – I decided to take pics as I went along
~ and do a step-x-step for you.
(the instructions are on each pic)

The technique is masking…
Apologies in advance for the poor photo’s, but I hope you’ll get the gist of it.  Cuppa ready?

Here we go!

You can see that the mask has been used a few times!

The charcoal is only a small addition, but it makes a heap of difference I think.

Products used were ~
Stampendous: Tree Poem stamp
Stampers Anonymous:  Classics #5 stamp set
Kaszazz:  Chalk Leaf small stamp

DI:  Peacock Feathers, Spiced Marmalade, Black Soot,
DI re-inker: Mustard Seed
Distress Paint: Picket Fence
Dylusions Paint: Black
Archival ink:  Jet Black, Cornflour

Stencils, charcoal pencil, white gel pen, water mister, paper toweling (for blotting), photo copy paper (for masking and printing) and patience…lots of patience!

I hope you enjoyed my first step-x-step tutorial.

Utterly stunning, Dot – a brilliant guest designer piece for Craft Stamper (and so happy to see it was also one of my favourite makes of yours that won it for you!)… The double masking technique really makes this piece sing – I love the tree in her face (but not in her eyes obviously!). And the colours are beautiful too – especially with the wonderful bubble stencilling layered over the top. Truly wonderful – a standing ovation here!
