Magpie’s Treasure

Magpie’s Treasure

is a card that I’ve made especially for Rubber Dance.

We have magpies all around the area where I live – noisy birds, but the warbling sounds amazing!  It’s nesting time at the moment so you need to be careful when you go for a walk or you might get swooped.  You have to respect the magpie!

… and my footy team is the ‘Magpies’, so I was instantly drawn to this stamp.  It has been designed by Melina Dahl especially for Rubber Dance – and she has done an amazing job!

If you would like to see how this came together, I have a step x step guide over on the Rubber Dance blog.

The Rubber Dance theme challenge – ‘Any Kind Of Embossing’ goes until the end of the month.

There is still plenty of time to enter so please pop on over and play along.

Rubber Dance stamps are also available from my Etsy shop – www.etsy.com/shop/inkartdesigns

Love You Longer

Love You Longer

is a great sentiment stamp from Visible Image that can be used for so many things.

I’ve combined it with the feather from Learn To Fly Again for this card.

The background is made using alcohol inks and the sentiment is masked off and stamped in two parts.

I’ve made a quick 5 minute tutorial on the technique for creating this background

which can be found here on Youtube.

Use Your Inks at FSC

‘Use your inks anyway you choose’!

It’s time for a new challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenges, and this month it was my turn to choose a theme – what can be more fun than getting inky!!!

We’re a stamping challenge, so a real stamped image (no digi’s allowed) must be the focal point your work.

I don’t really want to say a whole lot about the process for this one as it will be taught at a series of classes that I have coming up over the next few weeks.

I will say though that it is a one-layer card and it uses oxides.

The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different takes on this theme. Please pop on over and check out their awesome creativity, be inspired and maybe join in the fun.

Ink Art Designs is our sponsor this month and has a gorgeous stamp set to give away to one lucky winner chosen by random org. We also have a top 3 chosen by the design team and Saturday Spotlights where we showcase inspirational makes. And the icing on the cake is that each month we will be having a guest designer chosen from the entries.

Just a note to let you know that I have changed my blog from blogger to wordpress.  I’m really happy with the change but this means that there are no longer any ‘followers’ list. If you like what I do and would like to follow – I have a ‘subscribers’ option on the right side-bar.
Thank you to everyone who has followed me over the years and I hope that you subscribe for future posts.

Dare To Swim

It is still Summer up in the Northern Hemisphere so I thought I would use the ‘Dare To Swim’ set by Visible Image.

The set comes with extra bubbles so it seemed a shame not to use them.  For this card I’ve added them to create a whirlpool of air bubbles as the jelly fish swims along.

Once again I’ve been playing with the Distress Oxides, whatever you do with this product it just leads to a whole heap of fun! The jelly fish and bubbles were stamped first, then masked off.  This technique has really taken my fancy lately and I’m still having fun with it.

Then the card was smooched through DI’s, dried, stenciled, stamped again and finishing with the removal of the masking.  I really wanted a water-line at the top so that the sentiment could be added ‘out of the water’.  But it just didn’t happen lol.  So that is why there is a ripped section – it’s my compromise.  The words are white embossed with a little black fine-liner added around the letters for shadowing.
