It’s All About Nature at FSC

The new challenge is now up at Fashionable Stamping Challenges.

And this month we are asking you create a project about nature.

This can be flowers, leaves, or even animals.

This month I’ve used some of my favourite quirky flowers from Rubber Dance.  The colourful background was made with Distress Oxides and the flowers I’ve kept in black and white for a little contrast.

Recently I took part in a card chain challenge and this is what I made for it – so now it has a new home up in Canada.

And I received a beautiful card in return – from Mauritius.  Sooo much fun!!!

The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different takes on this theme. Please pop on over and check out their awesome creativity, be inspired and maybe join in the fun.

Ink Art Designs is our sponsor this month and has a gorgeous stamp set to give away to one lucky winner chosen by random org.

We also have a top 3 chosen by the design team and Saturday Spotlights where we showcase inspirational makes. And the icing on the cake is that each month we will be having a guest designer chosen from the entries.

Charlie – FSC

Charlie

has been one of my favourite stamps for years, though I  rarely use him.  You know what it’s like … you just have to have that stamp! For no reason, except you love it lol.

But this month he was just who I was looking for for the new challenge at FSC.  The theme this month is

Time Waits For No Man

This is a male themed challenge that can have men, clocks or time-pieces, anything that has to do with time.

I’ve been inspired this month by our fearless leader, Shirley.  She spoke recently about having a journal book that she uses for just stamping.  No technique-y things, just stamping…

So this card has no technique-y things!  It’s all stamping … okay, a little lid stamping using acrylic paint, but that doesn’t really count does it?

Charlie himself is from Stampsmith.  The background stamping, stars and words are all from Visible Image.

Use Your Inks at FSC

‘Use your inks anyway you choose’!

It’s time for a new challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenges, and this month it was my turn to choose a theme – what can be more fun than getting inky!!!

We’re a stamping challenge, so a real stamped image (no digi’s allowed) must be the focal point your work.

I don’t really want to say a whole lot about the process for this one as it will be taught at a series of classes that I have coming up over the next few weeks.

I will say though that it is a one-layer card and it uses oxides.

Just a note to let you know that I have changed my blog from blogger to wordpress.  I’m really happy with the change but this means that there are no longer any ‘followers’ list. If you like what I do and would like to follow – I have a ‘subscribers’ option on the right side-bar.
Thank you to everyone who has followed me over the years and I hope that you subscribe for future posts.

Gone Fishing …

Gone Fishing

is our new challenge at FSC for the month of July.

This is a stamping challenge, so please use a stamp must be the focal image on your project.

Do you have stamps of fish?  Or a person/people fishing on a pier or in a boat?  Then please join in the fun.  It is Summer in the Northerm Hemisphere, but fishing is something that you do all year round.  Here, in Portland, in the middle of Winter,  it is Blue Fin Tuna season … so it is full-on with fishermen in town.  After all, the fish are already wet so they don’t notice the rain.

This month I’ve made 3 ATC’s.   The first one shows a PaperArtsy stamp that was a gift from Shirley when she attended one of the craft shows in England last year (thanks Shirley).

The second one uses a stamp from Flonzcraft.  This is a favourite of mine … there just seems to be something very sentimental about a grandfather and child fishing.

The third ATC is a priceless memory that I bet many men have.  Many hours of their childhood spent fishing.

The stamp is also from Flonzcraft.

And finally, here all all three ATC’s together.  The fish are from Rubber Dance (Something Fishy)

The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different takes on this theme. Please pop on over and check out their awesome creativity, be inspired and maybe join in the fun.

I hope that you will hunt out your fishing stamps and join us at FSC!

Make It Feminine – FSC

Make It Feminine

With this month’s challenge at FSC we are all embracing our femininity.

We invite you to make something feminine for this challenge using stamps as your focal image.

Of course you can use whatever you like to help make your project, but stamping is important and should of course be the main focus of your piece.  We are after all a stamping challenge  😉

Shirley and I went to a card camp/retreat across the border, in the middle of nowhere, when she was out and this is one of the pieces that I made there.

This camp is always so much fun – lazy really (for me anyway).  And sooo relaxing.  It’s a long drive to get there, but the scenery is magnificent this time of year, going through kilometer after kilometer of vineyards where the leaves where just starting to turn to their autumnal colours on the vines. Beautiful!  It would’ve been nice to stop and sample some of the wineries … but we needed to get back through the pine forest, closer to home, before the kanga’s came out.

It was awesome to have Shirley along and watch her enjoying the whole experience.  Even embracing the bunk beds that we retired to each night.  You were awesome Shirley!!!

The main image is an old one from Kaszazz and the words are from Visible Image. The background stamps are from 49 Market – and for the life of me I can’t find the set!  Don’t you hate that? lol.
