Use Your Inks at FSC

‘Use your inks anyway you choose’!

It’s time for a new challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenges, and this month it was my turn to choose a theme – what can be more fun than getting inky!!!

We’re a stamping challenge, so a real stamped image (no digi’s allowed) must be the focal point your work.

I don’t really want to say a whole lot about the process for this one as it will be taught at a series of classes that I have coming up over the next few weeks.

I will say though that it is a one-layer card and it uses oxides.

The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different takes on this theme. Please pop on over and check out their awesome creativity, be inspired and maybe join in the fun.

Ink Art Designs is our sponsor this month and has a gorgeous stamp set to give away to one lucky winner chosen by random org. We also have a top 3 chosen by the design team and Saturday Spotlights where we showcase inspirational makes. And the icing on the cake is that each month we will be having a guest designer chosen from the entries.

Just a note to let you know that I have changed my blog from blogger to wordpress.  I’m really happy with the change but this means that there are no longer any ‘followers’ list. If you like what I do and would like to follow – I have a ‘subscribers’ option on the right side-bar.
Thank you to everyone who has followed me over the years and I hope that you subscribe for future posts.

‘Tis The Season

‘Tis the Season
It’s my turn to choose the theme for the challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenges this month…
So, for this challenge you can make anything that is Autumn or Winter…I hope that you have fun with it.
I’ve gone for a xmas twist.

Please remember to use a stamp as your focal image.
I’ve had heaps of fun just relaxing and playing with my water colour pencils for this card.
The image is called Snow Queen from Stampendous
which you can find here…isn’t she gorgeous?
The icy feel to this stamp made me feel like trying to create a kind of ice cave for her.
The blues are gradually built up, drying between layers.
With lots of drip effects from the water colouring.
Her hair has deliberately been left white, with a little stickles added for extra glam, and to also add to the iciness.
Another Chrissy card done! Feeling good!!!
The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different versions on the same theme.
Please pop on over and check out the awesomeness of their creativity,
be inspired, and maybe join in our fun.
Flonzcraft are our sponsors this fortnight and have a generous $20 gift voucher up for grabs,
there are spotlights and a top 3 picked by the DT as well.
Stamping must be the focal point on your project!

Enjoy!

I love Paris…even in the rain!

I Love Paris…Even In The Rain

At Fashionable Stamping Challenges this month we have the theme
of Winter In Paris!

Living nowhere near Europe, and with our seasons in Australia the opposite to those in Europe,
I had to really put my thinking cap on for this challenge.
I didn’t even know whether it snows in Paris!
So, my thoughts went to what I thought Winter was ~ and any-which-way I looked at it I couldn’t escape the rain!
So my piece for you this month has Wintry colours and rain.
The background uses purple and blue DI’s on an acrylic block that was lightly spritzed with water.
Then placed onto some white card.
A little water flicking,
and a little bleach,
and voila, that was my background.

My writing is a little dodgy,
but I think it suits the card just the same.

Masking is one of my favourite things to do, it adds so much depth…so
the stamping is done using masking to create layers.
Then I also used masking of the inked area to stamp some drips…to add another couple of layers!
In the end, this is a monochromatic one-layer piece.
And, even with it’s simplicity, it is one of my favourite makes for this year!

Stamping must be the focal point on your project!

I hope you enjoyed this as much as me.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges~

One Stamp, Three Ways

One Stamp, Three Ways!
I am on holidays at the moment…and sat down for a little play with ink yesterday.

A week ago I was lucky enough to be a winner in a blog-hop with Stampendous and won some gorgeous goodies…
a stamp,
a stencil
and a sanding block!

Yesterday I wanted to have a play with my new stuff,
so I set myself a challenge while I was at it.
My challenge to myself was:
~ to use the stamp 3 ways
~ use green and yellow (as I don’t use them very often)
~ and use circles (a common thread to tie the cards together)

Card 1

I used Bister background.

Card 2

With an Inky background.
I used Distress Inks for the background.

Card 3

And with lots of white space and a little doodling.
I used Dylusions for the colouring.

All very simple cards and all one layer.
Quick and easy, and heaps of fun!!!

Enjoy!

I would love to enter this set into ~

“Play It Loud!”

My baby turns 18 this month…
boy, how the time flies!!!
Seeing as how he loves to play the guitar…
VERY LOUD…
I wanted to make a card for him that suits his passion
and this is what I have come up with.
Lots of layers of distress inks helps!
I have been learning how to create even more depth with layers through Marjie Kemper’s on-line classes, here…there is always something new to learn.

I have learnt…
to shut doors when it gets toooo loud…
to let him have his space…
to enjoy every minute of it…
Happy Birthday Scott!
sssh, this is him a couple of years ago playing on stage with a bass guitar at a school concert
– only 2 days practice at using the bass and he says “how hard can it be…it only has 4 strings”
Enjoy!
