“You Are Always On My Mind”

“People”
Whether it is one person or many, this is the theme this fortnight at Fashionable Stamping Challenges.
A few weeks ago I went to my first ever craft retreat…OMG, how much fun are these to go to!  There were over 40 ladies in one large room crafting away without a care in the world…crafting until we dropped.
It is fair to say that I loved getting up and wandering over in my pj’s and sitting down to craft, eat, craft, sleep, and craft all over again….
This is the card that I ended up with at the end of the first day.
Once again it uses some new background ideas that I picked up from Marjie Kemper’s on-line Mixed Media class.
(yep – having a ball with thinking a little differently)
I have used a honey-comb stencil 3 ways – applying ink straight through the stencil; inking the stencil, spritzing water on it and ‘stamping’ with it; and ‘stamping’ using straight water on it.
Because there is a torn piece of paper on this, I have coloured the image on this with one of the colours from the background, and on the other half I have coloured with lifting the ink with water and also using a white gel pen.
It is a play-around card, but I liked how it turned out.
The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different versions on the theme this time.
Please pop on over and check out the awesomeness of their creativity,
be inspired and maybe join in the fun.
Flonzcraft are our sponsors this fortnight and have a generous $20 gift voucher up for grabs,
there are spotlights and a top 3 as well.

Stamping must be the focal point on your project!

I hope you enjoy my card.

~ Addicted to Stamps – Anything Goes

“Vintage Girl”

“Anything Goes”
is the new challenge at Vintage Stamping Challenges this month.
Everyone loves an anything goes challenge! I sure do.
For this one I made a card with lots of ink and one of my
all-time favourite Flonz stamps.
The background is the wrinkle-free technique using distress inks,
which was stamped with the Japanese blossom stamp, with a little bleach added to white out the blossom.
Some over-stamping using writing and crackles…
a little embossing which was sanded and inked up…
and a heart stencil placed behind the girl were all used to make this main panel.
Some layers, distressing, ribbon and lace finished it all off.
The one thing that I absolutely love about VSC
is that I get to play at “pretty” and vintage cards.
You don’t have to do this though,
to join in you just have to have fun
and do what ever you like this time around.
I hope you take the time to pop over to
and check out the amazing talent and ideas from the team.
Flonzcraft is offering a generous $20 gift voucher to the winner,
he offers an occasional spot prize
and there is always a top 3!

Summer Lovin’

“Anything Goes”
is the challenge this fortnight at FSC
which means you can just follow your heart and create
anything that comes to mind.
For me…it is the drawing to an end of summer,
and for those of you up North ~ the sun is hopefully starting to pop through.
With promises of good things to come.
For me, this is a very relaxed style of card after what has been a very hectic few months.

My card is once again playing with the Wendy Vecchi waterclour
style of background…
and letting the pattern created guide what I make.
What came out was a contrast between a
vintage style beach scene on one side…
and a light and airy, freer style of the other side represented with the flying gulls.
This is a one layer card using the ripping technique, stenciling
and lots of masking.
And a little bleach on the water and the gulls to add some white.
The other thing that I have been up to lately,
and has been taking up a lot of my crafting time, is whaleboat rowing!
Our boats have 5 rowers and 1 sweep which is a little different to the American style
which has 10 people on the boat.
The Australian Whaleboat Championships were held over in Warrnambool last weekend.
I rowed for the women’s team and “swept” (steered) for the mixed team.
And both teams won!!!
After nearly 2 months of training and a big weekend
I ended up totally stuffed and washed out…and a bit sunburnt!
So I really would like to share a pic of me steering the whaleboat,
I hope you don’t mind…
Turning the boat and looking for the finish line.

And me with 2 medals ~ just before I fell in an absolute heap!
Back to business!!!

Carefree Days!

“Build It Up”
Using at least three stamps!
is the challenge this fortnight at FSC
The watercolour background, butterflies and casual image
give me the feeling of carefree and innocent summer days!
So if you are going through some rough weather right about now…
I hope this helps you think of what is on its way soon…
Wendy Vecchi was demo-ing the most gorgeous backgrounds at CHA
~ and I  just had to give it a go…
Ok, so maybe I don’t quite have the new re-inkers (yet!)
and had to work out what the Australian version of what rubbing alcohol was…
but where there is a will there is a way!!!

My logic behind this background goes a little like this ~
I have no re-inkers…but what do we use re-inkers for?
For re-inking stamp pads with, of course!
So I swiped a little colour direct from the ink pad!
Next – rubbing alcohol!
I had no idea what this was, so friends on fb came up with
an antiseptic called “Isocol”
which I found in the health section of the supermarket (near the band aids).
I am totally in love with this technique!!!
My tip is to follow the video as when I tried short cuts it just didn’t work.
But the end results are just beautiful.
The main image is stamped…the kids masked
and then the background inked and flicked with water.
The image is torn, and then I added a little bleach in some sections to tone down the colour and bring the white out to the edge.
The main image is a new one that I got from Art Journey called Precious Moments
and the words are from a set called Nature Flowers
The butterflies are from a set called Just Butterflies from Chocolate Baroque.
A little flicking of gesso, some TH tape around the edge, a little freehand doodling for a border
 and there you have it.

Post Cards From Afar!

It is Mail Art Time
at Fashionable Stamping Challenges!
This challenge is open to all sorts of interpretations from
postcards/stamps/envelopes and letters…
as long as it is mail inspired, is stamped, then it qualifies.

Like most of you, I have seen some wonderful pieces of mailart in blogland,
so it was awesome to finally give it a go!
This is a new style for me…but oh soooo much fun.
I didn’t have to worry about having to embellish this time around, just stamping and inking
and layers.
The main postcards are on shiny cardstock, inked (because it goes on so well)
and flicked with water.  As I was only playing around, I decided to color the splats with some of the blue ink.
The main colours are blue and green with the background paper inked and stamped in browns.
The stamps used are a mix from Crafty Individuals, Flonzcraft and some posted to me from a friend…
only because I was a little short on stamps for this challenge.
 It is muchly appreciated.
Flonz has a generous $20 voucher for the winner

along with the stampettes top pics, Saturday spotlights
and the occasional guest designer who plays along with us. FSC is a busy place to be!

Please pop over to FSC and check out the awesomeness of the stampettes!!!!
They are amazingly creative people with some wonderful ideas.

Enjoy!
