FSC Use A Quote

Hi everyone and welcome to the new challenge at
Fashionable Stamping Challenges.

This month we would love to see you use a quote on your project.
My inspiration is a mixed media card using inks, paints and alcohol markers.

A gelli background came in handy for this card. The stars from the Merry Magpie stamp set from Rubber Dance were stamped straight onto the brayered gelli-plate and gave a fun effect.
When you use your gelli-plate it is great to keep playing and build up a little collection of backgrounds.
Before you know it you’ll have a stash of fun backgrounds for future projects.

The main stamp is one that has been in my collection for some time but hadn’t got around to using.
It is a Phyllis Harris stamp from Unity.
This set comes with words which are used with this girl image.

The clothes and shoes are painted with alcohol markers and some white paint was added to the background to give a cloudy effect. The whiteness of background at this stage was knocked back with the some background stamping using pink archival ink.
Extra stars were added through a Visible Image Stencil using white acyrlic paint.
I had another large star stamp (not sure where it is from though) and decided to stamp it onto some scrap card from the same gelli-plate piece with brown archival ink.

The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different takes on this theme. Please pop on over and check out their awesome creativity, be inspired and maybe join in the fun.

Ink Art Designs is our sponsor this month (that’s my Etsy shop) and has a gorgeous stamp set to give away to one lucky winner chosen by random org.

We also have a top 3 chosen by the design team and Saturday Spotlights where we showcase inspirational makes. And the icing on the cake is that each month we will be having a guest designer chosen from the entries.

Thank you for looking,
Happy Stamping!

August Challenge at Rubber Dance

Hi everyone,
I hope all is well in your part of the world. It is still cold here, but there are signs of Spring on the way with lots of blossoms on the trees.

It’s time to let you about the current challenge at Rubber Dance.

This month we have very natural colours, or you could choose the theme of Nature.
I’ve decided to go with the theme of Nature.

I’ve used a gelli print for the background on this card.
The owl was made from some card splotched through some brown ink, stamped and then bleached.

We have a new face book group that started today!
It is called ‘Rubber Dance Stampers Lounge’.  A place where you can check out what people are making with Rubber Dance stamps, ask any questions that you might have and generally be inspired.
I hope that you check it out if you are a face book user.

The stamps used in my card today are:

Bugs at FSC

This month it is all about BUGS at FSC!
It is my choice this month for a theme and I thought that bugs might be fun.
You can use butterflies, dragonflies, lady bugs or anything from the insect world.
For my card I chose spiders.

I’ve used distress oxides and stencils to create a creepy background.
Stamped some leaves in different green inks.
Then added a person who has wandered into a spidery web of danger.

This card made me think of a time when I was in the outback and found myself in a spot where the spiders were everywhere! I had to tread carefully and always look up just in case I accidentally had a close encounter with one of these creepy crawlies.

The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different takes on this theme. Please pop on over and check out their awesome creativity, be inspired and maybe join in the fun.

A reminder that I have a newsletter that goes out randomly with up-dates on specials and new stock coming into my Etsy shop.  A link is over on the right-hand sidebar.

Fossilized Fish for Rubber Dance

Hi everyone!
Today I have a card to share with you that you can find over on the Rubber Dance blog as a tutorial.
It uses alcohol inks in a different and fun way.

It uses Black alcohol ink – and it’s not as scary as it might sound.
The main stamp set is one of the new releases from Rubber Dance
called ‘Fish Diet‘.
And the words are from ‘Adore Me’.

Happy Stamping!

The Lion is a Very Hungry Beast …

Hi everyone,
I hope the sun is shining in your part of the world, it is struggling to pop out here.

Today I have an inspiration card for you that is for the July Challenge at Rubber Dance Stamps.
This month we ask you to either follow the colour part of the challenge which is Black & White plus another colour, or Use Wings/Feathers.

Here is my inspiration for you.

I’ve been thinking of having the elephant, from African Animals, walking through a forest of trees, then at the last minute I added the lion (from the same set) laying in wait for the elephant and added some words from the Take The Plunge stamp set.

I must have been in a mischievous frame of mind.

When you play along with the  Rubber Dance challenges you have a chance to win 12 Euro to spend any way you like at the Rubber Dance shop.
Have I tempted you to join in?  You don’t need to use Rubber Dance stamps to play along. As long as you follow either of the themes we are more than happy, and so will you be if you win 🙂

Happy Stamping
