‘Unleash Your Inner Animal’

It is all about “Animals”
at Fashionable Stamping Challenges this fortnight…
 be it wild or domestic!
For me I have unleashed my inner beast!!!  And had a wild time making this card.
You can probably tell that from the ‘cheeky’ fun that I had by adding a beast of the human kind…I know, it is the little things that amuse me sometimes lol.

But seriously,
the power of this card, for me, lies squarely with the tiger…and IRL he is magnetizing.

The tiger and fern are Kaszazz stamps
and the lion and giraffe are from I Brake for Stamps.
I can’t remember where the man is from…
For the background I have used bleach blocking and spritzing.
Then I stamped the tiger with carnation red archival ink and lifted some of the DI off to increase his awesomeness.
The giraffe and lion were made by swiping the card through the DI’s and water on the craft mat.
I sprinkled some sea salt, and then drowned it some more,
which had left some interesting splotches that I really liked. Then it was a matter of stamping in just the right places to capture the splotchy detail and to cut the images out.

OMG, when I went down to buy some sea salt…there were two types to pick from! Ionized and natural.  I don’t even know what ionized means, so I bought the natural one.  Goodness me!

To finish, all the eyes have white marker on them to bring the animals to life.

The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different versions on the theme this time.
Please pop on over and check out the awesomeness of the fashionettes,
be inspired and maybe join in the fun.
Flonzcraft are our sponsors this fortnight and have a generous $20 gift voucher up for grabs,
there are spotlights and a top 3 as well.

Remember, stamping must be the focal point of your creation…and then just follow the theme and you are win with a chance of winning!

“Out On The Farm”

“Out On The Farm”
It is time for another challenge over at
and the theme this time around is Stenciling/Masking.
And it is World Card Making Day too…so a great time to join in the fun!

This one is for my friend Glenda ~
she lives in a shed out on her farm and always
has eggs for me ~ I love seeing her chooks
just wandering around every time I go to visit.
Especially when there are little chicks!
I’m always greeted with hugs, a chat, coffee,
her latest cooking invention, laughter
and a wander through the gums out the back of her property.
Time always flies and we both get to stop and relax a little.
For this card I have used the mini gears stencil which I strayed with some
dylusional ink and then went over the top of it with
the mini cells stencil with DI.
I masked off the shed and chooks and water coloured them with DI.
The colours were chosen to represent the harshness
of the Australian outback and its relentless heat.
I have used a little bleach on the barn and chooks to add some depth.
The gum leaves add the contrasting colours.

Thanks Glenda for being such a good friend.
Enjoy..And happy World Card Making Day everyone xxx

I would like to enter this into the following challenges ~

Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home
At FSC this fortnight we are celebrating the “Home”
This can be any home you like, from under the sea, to bird houses, to animal habitats, to lighthouses guiding ships, to even an actual house!
The interpretation is up to you, and Marina from Cottage Crafts is offering an online voucher to the lucky winner, runner up and spotlights are also chosen along the way.

I have made a bird house.
The idea is from Joanna who made a beautiful one recently here.
And the free template for it, if you would like to give it a go,
is here.
I thought it would be fun to go with bugs…
Dragon flies, spiders, and geckos are the stamps this time around.
I don’t seem to have many suitable bird stamps
so I improvised.
To finish I used leaves as my decoration –
bare branches, ivy and gum leaves.
My final embellie is a grouping of gum leaves,
dangling from rings on the roof…
it just seemed to tie everything together I think.
Pop on over to Fashionable Stamping Challenges and
have a look at some of the awesome creations
that the stampettes have come up with.
Their imagination and talent is amazing and you might be tempted to join in the fun
of “Home Sweet Home”

“Frog Fantasy”

We are all playing BINGO this fortnight at Fashionable Stamping Challenges

The Fashionettes have outdone themselves this time…there are some awesome creations!

I have chosen the diagonal…flowers/distress/words and had an absolute ball making this card!
In a way, it is an anything goes challenge, just make sure that you have the elements on the bingo chart to be in with a chance to win a voucher from Marina at Cottage Crafts

Please remember that FSC is a stamping challenge site, so your main image has to be a stamped image!

For this card I have had my first play with my new Dylusionals…I have wanted some of these stamps for ages
(inspired by Silvia from FSC)
I haven’t got the new inks yet…but they are definitely on my wish list, so I have used my distress inks to the MAX in trying to get some vibrancy into the card. Yes…throwing some more acrylic paint (only because it is sooo much fun to do), tearing, layering and overstamping in order to get as much depth as I can.
I have also put some magic mount (foam mounting) under the tip of each leaf so that it has the effect of curling the leaves out.
I probably shouldn’t say, but the leaves are from some left over inked cardstock…I read somewhere that we shouldn’t be throwing away bits that you think are no good because you just never know when you might use them…I just added some more ink, stamped and then cut the leaves out.  I love the leaves on this card.

I would also like to thank all the new followers of my blog, thank you so much for your support.

Other exciting news in my blogland adventure is that I have just set up my own Etsy Shop.
The idea is that each time that I create a new project for FSC it will be added in to my shop.

Baby steps I know, but it is all very exciting!

I am entering this card in the following challenges…

African Trio

Crafty Cardmakers is having a challenge that is “Use It Three Times.”
You can use a stamp, or a theme, or a style, three ways…
I’ve been busy making heaps of cards while I’m on holidays, and decided to enter some into this challenge.
I’ve used my african animal stamps, but mixed them up a little…and I have used alcohol inks on glossy cardstock and overstamped with the animals using Black Stayzon ink.
The common thread through the three cards are the
  • alcohol inks
  • the lion
  • masking technique
This challenge was heaps of fun!
Only one more follower to go before I have my card givaway!!! Woohoo!
