“Things With Wings”

Things With Wings
our the latest challenge at FSC this fortnight.
Oh my gosh…it was so difficult for me to settle into one idea for this challenge.
There were so many choices jumping into my mind, from dragonflies…to butterflies…to chooks…
and then I settles on birds ~ well one bird anyway!
This arch has been a favourite of mine for some time but I have never used it as a window before.  I have absolutely no idea why not because now it just seems like a real logical thing to do.
So then the background became a patchwork of bricks to create a wall to put the window in.
More logic.
To age the brick wall – as you do as arches are old things – I just worked the ink here and there and added a splatter stamp for extra effect (it’s subtle, but it’s there).
And of course there is ivy…because when things are old nature takes over…
more logic.
Then I wondered what to look at outside of the window and decided on this swallow and nest from TH…again, some of my favourite stamps.
In hindsight, maybe I should’ve put some eggs in the nest…oh well, next time!

“Love Birds”

Ribbons and Bows
is the new challenge at Vintage Stamping Challenge
for the month of May.
These may not be actual love birds on this Flonz stamp (found here), but they are snuggling up
so I am imagining that that is what they are.
And with Spring coming out up North
it seemed like a nice romantic, cuddly
Spring thing to stamp.
I bought myself a brayer last year…which I have only used once (shame, and shaking my head)
~ so on a whim I thought it might be nice to play with it.
I love the textured look that some of the rolling produced
and was really surprised by how easy it was.
Why haven’t I got into this before???
Keeping with the theme of romance, that was stuck in my head,
I thought pinks were a pretty colour to use.
For the ribbon part of the challenge I have made a junk bow and placed a flower on it.
If you use your imagination, the junk bow is almost
like a nest!
I hope you take the time to pop over to
and check out the amazing talent and ideas from the team.
Flonzcraft is offering a generous $20 gift voucher to the winner,
he offers an occasional spot prize
and there is always a top 3!

Lavender and Lace

“Lavender and Lace”
at Vintage Stamping Challenges
Firstly I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who follows my blog.
I have just reached 150 followers and that just blows me away!!!
I love reading your comments and I love that you include me in your journey.
For some reason VSC seems to bring out the “pretty” in me.
And this challenge is doing just that…(well, pretty with a little grunge that is!)
I have been struggling getting back into stamping since xmas so it was
good just to have a play and relax with this theme.
For this challenge you are welcome to use any stamps you like,
as long as it has some stamping on it and follows the theme we are more than happy.

The tags on this are some new goodies that I got just before xmas
and have been waiting for the opportunity to use them.
I have used a Flonz stamp on the front tag called Girl with Bird on Hand
and I have added some birds from here.

I hope you take the time to pop over to Vintage Stamping Challenges
and check out the amazing talent and ideas from the team.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges ~

Wings and Things…

Things and Wings
is the new challenge at Vintage Stamping Challenges
this month!
We had a great response to our last challenge with some
awesome entries…so I hope you come along and play again.
remember you can use any stamps that you like…
in any style that you like!

My card this time around is me having fun with ink!!!
I decided to use orange and burgundy colours again…
because I just love this colour combination.
Gum leaves aren’t usually a burgundy and orange
 but I wanted something dramatic…not wish-washy.
They have been lifted with a little magic mount.
The birds were bleached out…and I quite liked
the mottled effect so I left them as they were…
just adding a little stickles.
This time I remembered to take a picture of the background.
I had so much fun just mucking around with ink,
layering up some stamping and stencilling in different colours
and splattering a little bleach.
Then came the moment when I realised that I had over done it
so I added some more ink
The bird stamp from Flonzcraft can be found here.
I hope you take the time to pop over to VSC
and check out the amazing talent and ideas
from the team…and leave a little love.
Flonzcraft is offering a generous $20 voucher for the winner,

Enjoy!
I would like to enter this into the following challenges…

Flora and Fauna at FSC

It is Flora and Fauna time
at FSC
This topic is so open, it can be jungles, under the sea, the dunes, the bush, a paddock, on the farm
or anything and anywhere your mind wanders…
as long as there is an animal of some sort and a plant,
and of course some stamping,
then it will qualify this fortnight for our Flora and Fauna challenge.
I have gone with a woodland theme
with some birds and foliage.
It feels like something is missing…maybe I should’ve layered it up instead of keeping it as a one layer?
I guess some cards just leave you wondering, “what if” …

The background is on specialty paper which mutes the colours slightly,
and I have used browns and mahogany distress inks.
A little bleach here and there (my favourite thing to do at the moment).
And some plain stamping.
The stamps are a mix from Flonzcraft, Kaszazz and Kaisercraft.
Flonz has a generous $20 voucher for the winner

along with the stampettes top pics, Saturday spotlights
and the occasional guest designer who plays along with us. FSC is a busy place to be!

Please pop over to FSC and check out the awesomeness of the stampettes!!!!
They are amazingly creative people with some wonderful ideas.
