“Feminine Beauty”

Feminine Beauty
is the new challenge this month at Vintage Stamping Challenges.
I have some gorgeous silhouette stamps from Flonzcraft
and I had the idea of using them in white instead of the usual black.
This then lead to the idea of a Wedgwood type of card.
Simple elegance is the look that I was after.
For this card I have inked up the background and front panel
in a mixture of blue DI.
I stamped the crackle onto the background to break it up just a little.
The flowers I made myself (yes, I am slowing getting the hang of it!)
The main image can be found here.
Being in a Wedgwood style, it was extremely difficult to not add
extra bits!!!!!!!!!!! It was all about the white on blue.
I hope you take the time to pop over to Vintage Stamping Challenges
and check out the amazing talent and ideas from the team.
Flonzcraft is offering a generous $20 gift voucher to the winner,
he offers an occassional spot prize
and there is always a top 3!
I would like to enter this card into the following challenges ~

“Modern Milly”

Can U Resist

Woohoo, another challenge is up and running at FSC!!!
And it is all about resist this fortnight.
You can use any resist technique that you like…as long as you state what it is,
and of course use a stamp, then you can join in the fun.

There have been some truly amazing cards being made lately
using stencils…so I wanted to get some new ones and have a little fun!
After going into both of the scrapbooking shops in town and asking about stencils…
I was greeted with blank looks and the owners weren’t really interested in finding out more
about the products…not one question! Hard to believe isn’t it!
And one of those shops is closing in a few weeks…ummm

So on-line it had to be ~ and I was thrilled when they arrived this week.
I have kept this simple.
The girl mask was used first…I stamped some writing in Versamark and then clear embossed.
Black soot was then applied so that the writing would pop.
Which it did after wiping away any excess ink.
I then used the reverse mask to cover the inked area,
added the mask for the background words
and inked again.
I’ve dribbled some black paint and
splattered some red and black paint.
And to finish off I’ve added more text in black archival
and randomly scribbled around one side of the mask
because I wasn’t game to go all the way around lol.
The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different versions on this theme.
Please pop on over and check out the awesomeness of the fashionettes,
be inspired and maybe join in the fun.
Flonzcraft are our sponsors and have a generous $20 gift voucher up for grabs,
there are spotlights and a top 3 as well.

FSC goes all Sentimental…

is the new challenge at FSC this fortnight.
I have chosen a sentimental journey for my piece,
however you can of course use a sentiment/sayings if you  like.
We have the wonderfully talented  Suzanne from Suzanne’s Papercrafting joining us as a GD
so please pop on over and check out her work and leave a little love.

My thoughts on this went back to the olden days in the country with many days at my nana’s house
 playing with cousins,
collecting chook eggs,
playing family cricket games in the back paddock
and the family feasts!
I am from a small country town where we made our own fun
and enjoyed the wide open spaces…
– the whole town was our backyard!
It is a time long since gone, but the memories are treasures.

This piece is a collage of different elements from those days
and has been made to be touched, with lots of bits and pieces.
The main image is a Crafty Individual’s stamp
stamped in archival ink on specialty paper as I wanted to have a strong back and white image
with muted sepia tones and a little pop of colour added as a backdrop to represent the past.
This is vintage in style, though it is very different to how I would usually do it.
 I enjoyed the journey
and hope that you will come along and play with us this fortnight.
The stampettes have once again come up with some great inspiration to tempt you into playing along…
and Flonz has a generous $20 voucher for the winner
along with the stampettes top pics, saturday spotlights
and the occasional guest designer who plays along with us.
I am entering this piece into the following challenges ~

~ Diva’s By Design – Butterflies and Birds (I have a butterflu and a chook!)
~ Clear It Out Challenge – Anything Goes…and buttons
~ Paulaholifieldcrafts – Anything Goes
~ The Artistic Stamper – Texture
~ Challenges 4 Everybody – Anything Goes

Surprise Us!!!

Ssssh…it’s Secret Santa time at FSC
Joanna had a wonderful idea of combining this fortnight’s challenge with a Secret Santa draw amongst the fashionettes!
You can surprise us with any creation you like, using new stash or your old favourites…
but the fashionettes will be posting their creations off
to another fashionette…who wont know who her secret santa is until it arrives!
So mine is going in the post tomorrow…
I can’t tell you who it is going to!!!!
It’s still a surprise lol (and it will probably take 2 weeks to get where ever it is going)
Oh…ok, I’ll give you a clue – it isn’t anyone in the southern hemisphere!

My stamps this time are some new butterfly stamps from Chocolate Baroque, the lady from Kaszazz and ivy corner from Penny Black.
Inks are DI and distress markers.
And all on specialty paper.
Please pop on over to FSC,
check out the awesomeness of the fashionettes
and be prepared to be inspired to the core!
Then create something special for us to see…
Surprise Us!
I can’t wait!!!!  It is always soooo exciting… lol

I am entering this card into the following challenges –

Through the Eyes of a Child

Through the eyes of a child
one sees the true spirit of Christmas.

This time I wanted to share something classical.
The love and innocence of a child,
excited through and through…
in the arms of someone super special
with a knowing glint in his eye.
This is a card that I made for a special friend about to enjoy his first christmas with his first grandchild.
The stamp is one of my favourites from Crafty Individuals
and the writing one is from Kaszazz.
The inks are distress and the black ink is archival.
