“Goodbye to Summer….”

‘Goodbye to Summer…’
things are heating up in this part of the world as Summer draws to an end, so I have made a card that shows what Summer is to me.

But before we get onto that, some challenge details for FSC…
The theme at FSC this fortnight is to colour an image in your favourite way.
OMG…there are sooo many choices.  I love scraping a little DI onto a craft sheet, spraying with a little water and picking it up with a water brush and colouring it onto an image.
You can make the colour bolder or tone it down, or mix it with other colours…
I use this colouring technique a lot – so that is what I have done for this challenge.
But there are so many other choices you could make
~ alcohol ink markers, re-inkers, DI stains…
Pretty much anything that has tones can be used to colour with.
It has been a mild summer down here by the sea
but there have still been plenty of balmy days…and typical seaside weather.
I made this card as a farewell to Summer,
and as an excuse to use some new stamps that I have bought.
The pelican I love because we have pelicans down by the water.
The blues because the sea here in Summer is sooo blue…and I have spent a lot of time on the water with my whale-boat training.
(ps: we won the Australian Whaleboat championships last weekend, so all that training paid off)
The background was made first by stamping a Kaszazz word stamp with picket fence distress paint so that it would act as a resist.
Then it was inked up, water- flicked and some extra DI “painted” on with a water brush
around some of the words
– to give them more depth and ground the letters.
It kind of has an embossed look when in reality it is flat.
The pelican on a post, and shells, were coloured with DI’s too.
And I couldn’t resist a little bleach splattered on the front panel.
The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different versions on the theme this time.
Please pop on over and check out the awesomeness of the fashionettes,
be inspired and maybe join in the fun.
Flonzcraft are our sponsors this fortnight and have a generous $20 gift voucher up for grabs,
there are spotlights and a top 3 as well.

Remember, stamping must be the focal point of your creation…and then just follow the theme and you are win with a chance of winning!

I thought that I would share a couple of pictures of our team at the Championships last weekend…that’s me standing up!
Moments after winning the championships
That’s me yelling at the team, or should I say ‘gently coaxing’ them???.lol

Enjoy!

“Love is in the Air”

Love is in the Air!
and I am feeling all romantic…
The animal in this is a wombat…which is an Australian native animal.  And the stamp is from Kaszazz.
All the rest is doodling.
This is quite a simple CAS card…but you know, sometimes,
 ‘simple’ is simply beautiful.
To all the romantics around the world I hope you have an amazing Valentine’s Day!
Enjoy!
I would like to enter this into the following challenges…

“Surf’s Up”

Surf’s Up
Here in Australia we are almost saying goodbye to Summer ๐Ÿ™
I can’t say that it has been much of a Summer though in this part of the world.
Maybe it will just come late. (yes, I am an optimist)
I was reading The Craft Stamper and was reminded about using
the picket fence resist technique…and decided to have a go.
My imagination got carried away, as usual, and I went for an
Hawaiian sunset effect…using a silhouette stamp.
I love how the picket fence comes through to the front.
A little flick of water here,
a few drops flicked on with the festive berries DI there,
and the paint did all the rest!
I hope you enjoy my card.

I have put this into the ‘made by me’ section of The Craft Stamper website

Let’s Get the Party Started!

“Something New”
is our kick-start challenge for 2015
at Fashionable Stamping Challenges.
I hope everyone has had a wonderful festive season and is recovering gradually
…I am doing ‘boot-camp’ and rowing whaleboats again, in training for the championships coming up in February (yep – I’m a sucker for punishment), so my old muscles are a little tender some days.
But I do love the competitiveness of it all and it is a great day out.

As for xmas, not even one new craft gadget did I get!!!
BUT
  • Luckily I had a couple of stamps that hadn’t seen ink, so they were perfect for this challenge.
  • A new technique.
  • And trying to master something that has had me stumped…forever!

– and so I had the ingredients for this challenge
My new stamps are the sentiments and net stamps which are from Kaszazz.
The new technique was inking a block with some distress ink,
spraying with a fine mist of water and applying it to cardstock.
An oldie, and simple I know, but I just had never got around to giving this a go!
And I loooove it!!! Quick, easy…and it gives some white space if you don’t over-do the ink.
 (less is more)
Tip: you will have left-over droplets, so use them up on your piece.
– a bit like the wrinkle free technique.

And the dreaded cropodile…which I have had for years…
Guess what! I have finally learnt how to use it!
The trick here is to not over-squeeze it…
and KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN!!!
Scary stuff though as it is usually the last thing that you do, and if you muck it up
then you have to start all over again.
~ so bravery and belief-in-myself is paramount.
(o.k. ~ my ‘plan B’ was to put some ribbon through the holes, or hot-glue them them on, to disguise any mishaps)
I hope you like my card.

“Things are HOT at FSC!”

Heat It Up!!!
That’s right…it’s heat gun time
And it is our last challenge for the year.  This one will run for a month so that we can all enjoy the season, friends and family.  We look forward to seeing you again in 2015!
On with the challenge ~
there are so many things that you can use your heat gun for, and
if you are like me you probably use one with just about every project that you work on, without even thinking twice about it.
I know that it is a busy time of year, but if you need a break from the maddening crowd…and feel like a little crafty play…
then this is a nice easy challenge for you!
For this challenge I have decided to make just one more chrissy card.  I was quite taken with the idea of creating a vintagey bauble that looked real…and this is what I have come up with.
Firstly, for the background I have clear embossed some snowflakes
– heat gunned it!
Then I wrinkle free distressed it
– heat gunned it!
The small bauble (with Santa) is triple clear embossed
– heat gunned it!

The Santa image was heat-set before the embossing
– heat gunned it!

And to finish off, I randomly added some silver embossing powder on the edge of the card and bauble
– heat gunned it!
I’m starting to feel a little like ‘Annie Get Your Gun’ lol.

I would also like to thank you all for some pretty awesome comments left on my blog this year ~ you have given me encouragement and support in ways that I can’t explain ~ and thank you also for taking the time to follow my blog.
A few people have decided to move on from here so I really do appreciate those of you who have stayed.  And a big thank you to those of you who are new to my journey…
you never know what is ahead ๐Ÿ˜‰
Thank you!

…and a very Merry Xmas from me and mine
to you and yours!!!
