I love Paris…even in the rain!

I Love Paris…Even In The Rain

At Fashionable Stamping Challenges this month we have the theme
of Winter In Paris!

Living nowhere near Europe, and with our seasons in Australia the opposite to those in Europe,
I had to really put my thinking cap on for this challenge.
I didn’t even know whether it snows in Paris!
So, my thoughts went to what I thought Winter was ~ and any-which-way I looked at it I couldn’t escape the rain!
So my piece for you this month has Wintry colours and rain.
The background uses purple and blue DI’s on an acrylic block that was lightly spritzed with water.
Then placed onto some white card.
A little water flicking,
and a little bleach,
and voila, that was my background.

My writing is a little dodgy,
but I think it suits the card just the same.

Masking is one of my favourite things to do, it adds so much depth…so
the stamping is done using masking to create layers.
Then I also used masking of the inked area to stamp some drips…to add another couple of layers!
In the end, this is a monochromatic one-layer piece.
And, even with it’s simplicity, it is one of my favourite makes for this year!
The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different versions on the theme this time.
Please pop on over and check out the awesomeness of their creativity,
be inspired, and maybe join in our fun.
Flonzcraft are our sponsors this fortnight and have a generous $20 gift voucher up for grabs,
there are spotlights and a top 3 as well.

Stamping must be the focal point on your project!

I hope you enjoyed this as much as me.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges~

‘And the Weather is…Perfect!’

‘Weather Forecast’
Is the new challenge, this fortnight, at FSC.
And the weather is perfect!
A balmy Summer’s day at dusk, with the sun going down,
the night clouds gently rolling in,
no wind…no rain…
Peaceful…
Perfect!

We have a small, seaside town just 10 mins down the road which we
affectionately call ‘The Wong’ and each time I look at this card
it reminds me of it.

I have kept this card pretty simple using different stamps from all over the place.
Not even any masking…just ‘pot luck’ with random stamping.
Also it is one-layer.

And another card for my ‘male card’ collection – and that’s a bonus!

For the background I have again used Bister
as I am still enjoying these paints and what you can do with them.
I did experiment with some other backgrounds, but I liked this one the best.
And for those of you who might be wondering,
I have coloured the border using Bister and water mixed together on my craft sheet.
Our challenge this fortnight is to depict the weather somehow…
From rain or snow, to soaring heat…and anything in between.
The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different versions on the theme this time.
Please pop on over and check out the awesomeness of the fashionettes,
be inspired and maybe join in the fun.

Remember, stamping must be the focal point of your creation…and then just follow the theme and you are win with a chance of winning!

Enjoy!

“Playing Around”

“Playing Around”
Male cards are sometimes a little tricky.
My boys’ asked if I would make a birthday card for their dad.
I don’t know about you, but going from feminine to male is like you need to flick a switch in your head and do a complete ‘about-turn’, mentally.
Everything on this card is new.
The background is playing with Bister, and the stamps are…well…don’t we all just get new stamps?
What is the first thing that you do when your Bister arrives?
PLAY…(of course).
I have seen so many amazing cards made using Bister and could not resist getting some in.
This card is using the Mahogany colour and is on shiny cardstock.
Using it on shiny card is my favourite way to use these powdered paints and the colour is so vibrant…
The thing for me to embrace with Bister is that
‘Less is More”
It really does go a long way…and I found that some really nice effects can come from using just a little of it.
You just need to have heaps of cardstock and time to play!
I have used a little bleach to some of the splotchy areas to help the spots stand out more.

“Summer Days”

Summer Days
is the new challenge at Vintage Stamping Challenges
for the month of August.
We are a stamping challenge so combining that with some flowers
will qualify you for this challenge.

This gorgeous stamp of the boys heading off for a fishing trip with their dog can be found here.

I thought that I would move away from the beach a little for this summer make…and head for the river!
(you can’t see it, they are still on their way there)

This to me is summer all over!
Relaxation, the hot sun beating down and boys heading out to catch fish, with their dog.
Yep, you just gotta love that caveman urge of their’s to catch a fish for us!

I hope you take the time to pop over to
and check out the amazing talent and ideas from the team.
Flonzcraft is offering a generous $20 gift voucher to the winner,
he offers an occasional spot prize
and there is always a top 3!

“It’s a Man Thing”

“It’s A Man Thing”
is the new theme at Vintage Stamping Challenges
this month.
There are so many possibilities with this one…you could make a valentine’s
card to your man, go sporty, cars, wild west or anything with a man in it would be fine.
When I saw this stamp set here I knew just what I was going to do.
LOTS OF MEN!
I think I used nearly every man in the set…but it was heaps of fun.
The colours I have kept with shaded bluey/greys…
everything I tried just didn’t seem to look right. But I do like how the colours have come out.
Lots of masking, a little stenciling, some cracked UTEE, a little gold and of course
some hearts (because I love men!)
I think sometimes you just need to keep things simple so that the stamps can shine.
