“Driving In My Car”

“Colour, Cogs and Cars”
Just thought I would have a dabble with a male card.
Have you noticed that they seem to be so handy…
but something we really don’t seem to do until we have to.
I had so much fun with this card, mucking around with colours, cogs and cars.
The background is distressed in a very TH sort of way and is set off with a little EP.
The border is just doodle drawn with a fine liner…an idea I have gotten from Ellie at Fashionable Stamping Challenges.
A map is stamped onto some copy paper, scrunched, curled, inked up
and makes a wonderful embellishment for this travel piece.
I am entering this card into the following challenges ~

– Crafts 4 Eternity ~ Travel
– The Poodles Parlour ` Father’s Day/ Male ( I have chosen for a male)
– Totally Papercrafts ~ Doodle on it ( I have doodled the border of the card and the tag)
– 4 Crafty Chicks ~ Monochromatic
– CropStop ~ Monochromatic
–  DL.ART Thursday Challenges – Male Card
-Crafty Cardmakers ~ Distress It (I have used inks for this)

Corset Kaos!

Why not head on over to Fashionable Stamping Challenges and check out what wonderful projects the girls have made…The subject this fortnight is
The girls have put together some stunning projects to inspire you, so please
be inspired and have a go at our latest challenge.
My inspiration for this goes back to my days in high school…
I was the one who needed the teacher’s help the most, the one who couldn’t thread the machine, the one who often sewed the pieces backwards and inside out…
I was always the last to leave because I had the biggest mess to clean up.
I had no idea what I wanted to achieve with this challenge (a bit like my sewing abilities!)
And when it came to bringing it all together, I realised that that was the answer…my disorganisation ~
and so this collage was born!

Cathy left a comment on one of my posts (hi Cathy), and I went blog hopping from her site and ended up somewhere that explained what a collage was…layering, bits and pieces and different textures all brought together with a common link.
My link here is the thread! Using buttons, ribbon, thread and lace to bring all the elements together my collage is complete.

The Background:
I have used alcohol inks. The tape measure effect is a tape measure stamp stamped onto tissue paper, ripped and then glued onto the alcohol inked card…and while I was at it, I added some gilding flakes with the glue as well.  I added more alcohol ink afterward to hide any tissue that was showing.
Mosaic Layer:
This is done from the same inked background card and overstamped with a stamp from my Oxford Impressions ~ dress-forms and corsetry set.  I then cut it into squares and switched them all around and stuck onto black card to form the background. I ripped the bottom and dipped it in gold embossing powder to add richness.
Is stamped in watermark on black card and embossed with gold embossing powder.  This is the cool part, I then got my embossing “pen” and added some strokes to the image and embossed again with red powder…I think this has added heaps of depth and more interest to the corset…and finally some rhinestones for bling.  I adhered this to a dress-form that I stamped onto acetate and I have raised this above the mosaic.

Then it is all brought together with lace, ribbon, threads, hessian, buttons and a tag.
(a little complicated ~ but..) Enjoy!

“Make A Tag” ~ at Fashionable Stamping Challenges

Hello and welcome to everyone visiting my blog.
The theme at FSC this fortnight is to “Make a Tag”…and we all love this one!
I’m calling this one “Old Friend”
The Stampettes have gone all out and created some awesome tags!  They are such a talented lot of ladies.  Meet our uber talented new teamies!!! Pop on over and check them out at Fashionable Stamping Challenges. Marina from Cottage Crafts has a fantastic prize each fortnight, so … I hope that you will be truly inspired, get the ink pads and stamps out and have a go…and, more than anything, have fun!
It’s amazing how many different ways you can make a tag!

A wonderful friend of mine is moving to another city at the end of the year ๐Ÿ™   So this tag was created with her in mind (you will be missed…)
She is British born and a has a gentle soul. A lady through and through!  I wanted to create a tag that reflected that somehow, and celebrated our friendship…ok, I love grunge, so it was difficult..lol…so I have come up with my version of  “friendly, feminine grunge”. I hope you like it.
I was trying to think “outside the square” ~ so I went “outside the tag”.  (sorry, couldn’t resist that!)
I  had my first ever go at using DI that was mixed with water and painted onto an image. I think the watercolour effect is gorgeous, and gave me the look I was after.

There’s not much to this one really ~

The inks are Distressed inks (lots of blues and browns) and Memento Tuxedo Black.
The stamps are from Crafty Individuals (main image) and Tim Holtz (a flourish).
Embossing powder TH gold, and “Alison Ellis Design” in chocolate sparkle and true blue.
A gold leaf pen for highlighting the swirls.
And torn paper from Graphic 45 – “society page”

I am entering this tag in the following challenges ~
C.R.A.F.T. ~ Challenge #119 Children
Gingersnaps Creations ~”Gal Pal”
Aud Sentiments ~ For a Girl
Just For Fun ~ Vintage

Crafts 4-Eternity ~ Brown and Blue

“Hand-Made Flowers” at Fashionable Stamping Challenges

 “Blooming Beautiful”
Hand Made Flowers is the theme this fortnight at Fashionable Stamping Challenges!!! And seeing as we are only weeks away from Spring here, I wanted to create a garden that is bursting with flowers and new life…now just to get that to happen in my garden…ummm

Firstly, a warm welcome to my new followers, thanks for joining in!

Well this is the first time I have ever made a hand-made flower…so I decided on some grunge ones! And I think they turned out just fine. I cut out some circles, inked them up (Faded Jeans, Weathered Wood and Broken China), scrunched, unscrunched, sprayed with water and put a brad in the middle to hold together, scrunched again and then tipped the edges with more ink (phew, that was a mouthful). And then put a little Kindy Glitz around the edges.
Checkout the flowers made by the other DT members…they are Awesome!
My background papers are layered, ripped, inked with Rusty Hinge and Faded Jeans DI and then rolled.
I have taken some inspiration from Claire’s last card at Fashionable Stamping Challenges, and have used acetate with tulips stamped onto it with StayzOn Ink. I have then turned it over and glitzed and inked it in patches using Rusty Hinge DI again.
The leaves are inked, scrunched, unscrunched and sprayed with water and placed under the acetate.
The tag is inked and stamped and a brad inserted.

Stamps ~ Potted Tulips (Imprint) and Misc.
Inks      ~ Distress Inks, Stayz On, Archival Denim
Papers  ~ Brazill, Creative Imaginations and KC, photocopy paper (I liked the thickness)
Misc     ~ Acetate, Kindy Glitz and brads

And The Little One Said…Roll Over…

The teddies here remind me of when my kids were born and each were given a teddy to cuddle till they eventually broke…boys just love their teddies, don’t they?

I loved putting this card together…I got some inspiration from blogworld with the cutout pieces of card (and apologies to the wonderful person who did this, I can’t remember your blog to give you the credit) and some from an ad on tv which showed a slash of colour being ripped across the screen…so I picked the colours that I like to work with (broken china, chipped sapphire and peeled paint) and put those two ideas into this card.

The techniques that I love to work with are used in this card…ripping, masking, embossing, working magic with ranger distress inks and spraying with perfect pearls mist!
The bears are gorgeous, just a simple stamp (from Inkadinkado) that has been masked and stamped five times.  I have then coloured them with copics (E000, E00, E11, E35) and the bow ties are in BG05 and YG06 – I was experimenting and found that the two colours really worked well together.  The butterflies are clear embossed on black ink on rich blue papers, and I then added some YG06 in the upper bits to blend it in with the overall feel of the card.  Oh, and the background inking is oversprayed with perfect pearls mist..blue.
