“Secret Love”

Secret Love

I was asked, for the first time ever, to be a guest designer by
They surprised me with an email inviting me to be their GD
for the texture challenge (with a twist of glimmer/shine).
I gave this serious thought…like for 2 seconds…
then jumped at it with both feet!!!
I am really loving the texture of corrugated card at the moment and this time
after covering it in tissue tape I gave it a light gesso wash…
I will definitely be doing this again as it makes a gorgeous background.
Then some torn and ripped papers,
embossing and grunge paste make up the rest of the texture.
There is a little ink on the papers but I liked the way the colours played off each other,
so I haven’t added a lot.

The glimmer is on the heart, the beads, metal and rhinestones.
The heart is made up of an image stamped onto tissue paper and glued on,
embossed on one side with glossy accent highlights
and pearl glimmer mist sprayed over the top.
I just thought I would add this pic to show the glimmer on the heart piece.
Pop on over to the C2CU blog and be inspired by this months challenge –
the team have some awesome inspiration to share!
It is such an honour to be involved
and I thank the team for the opportunity to do something different.

I made this card on a lazy Saturday afternoon and on a whim
I emailed it to The Craft Stamper.
It is inspired by Kate Crane (The Kathryn Wheel)
and was created around the time that we were designing cards
for our journaling challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenges.
Low and behold….they made contact and wanted to publish it!!!
Happy Dance number 1.
It was heaps of fun to make!
The main image and sentiment are from Art Journey…
and I just can’t get enough of this stamp ~ I love it!
I wont get to see it for another 2 months
because that is when it is released here in Australia.
But the girls at FSC have been keeping an eye out for me
and Avril took some pics of it for me and sent them to me.
Thankyou so much Avril x

For now this is as close as I get to it.
So funny really.
It was a genuine shock when I realised that it was the Editor’s Choice,
and a whole page!!!
Happy dance number 2.
Happy dance number 3 will probably be in a couple of months time!

Life is Beautiful

For our new challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenges
we ask you to have fun getting creative with all sorts of text pieces.

I have loved looking at the amazing pieces that people have created using this style
but have never had a go…
so I am thrilled to bits to finally get into ripping into some pages…
I don’t know about you but I found ripping a page out of a dictionary
a little naughty, but strangely liberating
(it helped heaps that it was only an old dictionary that I purchased from an op shop)

The background on this card started with a torn dictionary page
glued onto some cardstock.
Then I thought I would add some patterned tissue paper.
I left a couple of white cardstock areas clear…
then on with some blue and peacock feathers DI..I love this colour!
Then I stenciled some grunge paste through a harlequin mask
(another favourite of mine)
and coloured it again with DI.
I really liked how it looked and let it sit for a day untouched…
just because I liked it just as it was.

Suddenly I remembered that I hadn’t actually done any stamping yet…
and seeing as it is a stamping challenge at FSC I reluctantly added some swirls.
I finished it off with stamping and masking some butterflies, cut them out
and mounted them onto black cardstock and just cut around the inside…leaving the edges black.
I attached these along with a lovely cut out from some graphic 45 paper.

Oh, and I added a couple of butterflies onto the top corner to balance it all out.

I hope you enjoy this card as it was heaps of fun to make.

Flonz has a generous $20 voucher for the winner

along with the stampettes top pics, Saturday spotlights
and the occasional guest designer who plays along with us. FSC is a busy place to be!

Please pop over to FSC and check out the awesomeness of the stampettes!!!!
They are amazingly creative people with some wonderful ideas.

Black and White

Black and White
Just popping in to share a card that I made for colleague.
The brief was to create a card in black and white, with a little french influence if I can
and that the person loves butterflies.
Aaargh!!! I don’t have any french stamps!!!
(but will get that sorted out in the future lol)
I’m not sure if it is very french, but she was more than happy
with the outcome…phewwww.
I have bounced off an idea that I had earlier this year, which you can find here,
and I think it looks heaps better! It uses my all time favourite lady stamp.
I think she is a little vintage and sooo very classy!
I have used her for both contemporary and vintage cards,
and not many stamps can do that.
I really like how this turned out,
looks like some of my friends might be getting similar ones, ssshhhh

is the new challenge at Vintage Stamping Challenges.
This card came together a little backwards!
I knew the gorgeous stamp that I wanted to use,
but I started with the rosette, which I have never made before,
and decorated it in a shabby chic style.
Then I made the card around it…
The style of the finished rosette decided how I was going to finish the rest off.
The stamp is Girl On A Windy Hill and is such a carefree image.
There is lots of gesso, lots of layers, lots of ink,
a little lace, bling and distressing…
There is just something very special about Shabby Chic!!!

And I will definitely be making more rosettes!!!
They are so much fun.

Flonz has a generous $20 prize for one lucky entrant
which can be spent on a huge range of goodies from his on-line store.
And they are cheap…so you can get heaps of them!
The Design Team have once again come up with some
outstanding examples of how to showcase these stamps…
so please be inspired

and come join in our fun at Vintage Stamping Challenges
