Tag It!

“Tag It”
Is the theme this fortnight at
We invite you to join in the fun and see what you can make with a tag…or two…
Some of you might know that I have only ever made a tag
when I am asked to for the challenges…up to three now!
I don’t know why I struggle with it at the time
but end up enjoying the whole process.
I’ve been on holidays from my main work
(but filling in at a second job) for the last month or so,
tutoring and whaleboat training for the championships coming up in a few weeks time…
oh, and a little freelance designing and another card has been accepted by
The Craft Stamper (2 submissions and 2 publications. – that just blows me away!)
But nowhere near enough play time with inks!!!
I have used a tag base from Darkroom Door
which measures around 6 1/4″ x 3 1/4″.
I am still trying to come to grips with layering up my work,
as I really like to do the one layer type of card.
But I have been taking part in the
Creative Jumpstart 2014 program
for January and have found some really inspirational ideas and techniques.
I highly recommend having some fun with the on-line classes out there
~ especially when distance is such a problem ( like for me.)
This tag is based on
It was something new to try (for me anyway).
It involves a lot masking tape, ink and layers…perfect for this challenge!
Back to work (main job) on Tuesday so maybe I can get into more of a routine.
The girls at FSC have come up with some inspiring and very different versions on the theme this time.
Please pop on over and check out the awesomeness of the fashionettes,
be inspired and maybe join in the fun.
Flonzcraft are our sponsors this fortnight and have a generous $20 gift voucher up for grabs,
there are spotlights and a top 3 as well.
Enjoy!

Lavender and Lace

“Lavender and Lace”
at Vintage Stamping Challenges
Firstly I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who follows my blog.
I have just reached 150 followers and that just blows me away!!!
I love reading your comments and I love that you include me in your journey.
For some reason VSC seems to bring out the “pretty” in me.
And this challenge is doing just that…(well, pretty with a little grunge that is!)
I have been struggling getting back into stamping since xmas so it was
good just to have a play and relax with this theme.
For this challenge you are welcome to use any stamps you like,
as long as it has some stamping on it and follows the theme we are more than happy.

The tags on this are some new goodies that I got just before xmas
and have been waiting for the opportunity to use them.
I have used a Flonz stamp on the front tag called Girl with Bird on Hand
and I have added some birds from here.

I hope you take the time to pop over to Vintage Stamping Challenges
and check out the amazing talent and ideas from the team.
Flonzcraft is offering a generous $20 gift voucher to the winner,
he offers an occassional spot prize
and there is always a top 3!

“A Cold and Frosty Xmas”

Cold and Frosty Colours
is the theme this month at Vintage Stamping Challenges
This challenge runs until the new year so it is up to you whether
you make a Christmas card
or just take a little break from the festive season and play with the colours.
It can be relaxing to just do something totally different after the big day…
However, I’ve gone with a xmas card as I am soooo far behind with these
and added heaps and heaps of sparkle.
A one layer card.

This ripped technique I first saw done by our DT sister Brenda here
and it has quickly become a favourite of mine.
I have used the cold colours of Distress Inks,
used a snowflake stencil,
the glitter technique is from TH (Day 5 of CC102)…I love the sparkle that it adds.
~ then I’ve finished off with dripping some Fresco Finish paint and addiing a little
rock candy glitter while it was still wet.
The main stamp is from Flonz
and is found here.
My discovery while playing this time is that
when you stamp onto shiny paper with Brilliance black ink
and then over stamp with the same image ~ no masking is necessary as the ink moves aside
and makes it look like you have done the masking anyway!
I hope you take the time to pop over to Vintage Stamping Challenges
and check out the amazing talent and ideas from the team.

“A Traditional Christmas”

“A Traditional Christmas”
is the new theme this month at Vintage Stamping Challenges.

Yes, it is coming up to that time of the year again…when we start looking
towards making our xmas cards for friends and family.
I hope you aren’t like me and leave it all a little late
and then the big rush is on!
Every year I rush my way through the last half of November
and make a promise to myself that next year I will be more organised…
ummmm….at least I now have one card done!!!

I have kept this pretty simple because I think that xmas cards
shouldn’t be overdone…
but I still wanted to play with my inks.
So I have used the wrinkle free technique for my background
– just using blues.
Then stamped some snowflakes…using different shades of DI’s
and adding some glitter…
(sorry, it doesn’t show up in this pic, but it is pretty)
Then I finished with some holly leaves and a little ice stickles.

The main image is from Flonzcraft and you’ll find it here.
Flonz has some beautiful xmas stamps to pick from and I wish I haven’t
ordered more!

I hope you take the time to pop over to Vintage Stamping Challenges
and check out the amazing talent and ideas from the team.

“Feminine Beauty”

Feminine Beauty
is the new challenge this month at Vintage Stamping Challenges.
I have some gorgeous silhouette stamps from Flonzcraft
and I had the idea of using them in white instead of the usual black.
This then lead to the idea of a Wedgwood type of card.
Simple elegance is the look that I was after.
For this card I have inked up the background and front panel
in a mixture of blue DI.
I stamped the crackle onto the background to break it up just a little.
The flowers I made myself (yes, I am slowing getting the hang of it!)
The main image can be found here.
Being in a Wedgwood style, it was extremely difficult to not add
extra bits!!!!!!!!!!! It was all about the white on blue.
I hope you take the time to pop over to Vintage Stamping Challenges
and check out the amazing talent and ideas from the team.
