Are you needing a project to keep you busy?
This one might be challenging but you’ll have heaps of fun giving it a go.
For this card I decided to play with my round gel plate and oxides for a change.
It’s weird how pale the colours look on the gel plate compared to how they print out.
The same thing happens with Archival inks.
This card uses two stamp sets from Rubber Dance.
Here we go with how it all comes together.
It’s easier than you think!
These pics show you the masking that that is involved.
Stamp the lion first, mask him, stamp the rhino and then add a mask to him also.
place a die-cut of a small circle off-center, directly onto the gel plate.
This will create some white space for a word to go into later.
Wild honey and Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide’s were brayered over the surface.
Using walnut stain DO’s, stamp some small leaves everywhere onto the gelli plate.
You might be able to see it vaguely.
With the masks still in place stamp the gel plate onto the card.
By doing it this way you can see where the placement will be.
Let the ink sit for a bit so that as much as possible goes onto the card.
You can see how much brighter the ink is now compared to when it was on the gel plate.
I’ve combined wild honey, spiced marmalade and walnut stains DO’s onto the leaf stamp and stamped it multiple times without re-inking in between.
This gives a fading effect each time you use it without re-inking.
Now you can remove the masks!
I’ve stamped randomly some small leaves with walnut stain DO’s onto the background.
Smooch ink, using the same colours as your background piece, onto your craft sheet.
Spritz with a little water, dip the card in, dry, dip again, dry and so on.
It’s important to dry each layer of ink so that each colour stands out.
Please don’t cover your entire card with ink – leave some white areas.
Stamp the giraffe into an area that is a mix of white and coloured areas.
Place the masks back on the animals and stamped some extra leaves with black ink.
And here is the finished card again … with the word added into the white space.

I would love to see you take on it.
