I’m Feeling the Beat
at Visible Image this fortnight!
Visible image is on Create & Craft on Saturday the 16th of May!
I’ve had a sneak peak at some of the samples made…
and my wish list is just growing, and growing and growing…
There is a selection of old and new stamps this time around…so I had a little fun with the music ones on one of my MDF Monolith stands.
It is difficult to know the sizes of things on-line.  On these ones I have designed onto card that measures 16.5cm x 9.6cm and then attached to the stand.  This gave me a little space around the edge.

I started by giving the MDF 2 coats of black gesso because I wanted it to be really black!
On the first one that I did (here) I gesso-ed the stand and base separately and then assembled everything…this time I glued in the stand first and then gesso-ed it.  I found this a lot sturdier, without the wobble that I had on my first attempt.
In hindsight, if I had’ve been less impatient it might have been better 😉
The bright background is made using Alcohol Inks – with some smooching and dabbing. and a little Mustard Seed DI for highlights.
The drummer, edging and music is stamped on with archival.
Then I added some gold embossing around the edge to match in with the stars and words
This side of the monolith is also on glossy card.
This time with archival re-inkers.  Some stenciling over the top and, again, silhouette stamping with archival.
2 different techniques on glossy card.
All brought together with a common theme, edging, stars and words.
To finish I covered the center panel with some tissues and had fun flicking Dylusions paint (which roughly matched the colours on the monolith) onto the base.
I saw Mark Alexander do this last time on Create & Craft…
so I couldn’t resist giving it a try on this.  I love the pop of bright colour that it gives on a black background.
